Who needs tutoring?
No obligation. Takes ~1 minute.

The tutor and student relationship should always be a positive, interactive, and creative experience that continues to grow with the student's academic ambitions. In my eyes, the word "student" can easily be replaced with "thinker" or "individual," because everyone is unique when it comes to their perspective and thought-process about the world around them.In my view, the best part about my approach to tutoring is that "we" get to decide what personal practices will create the greatest learning experience for you. Of course, the final product of any assignment that you are given needs to be exactly as your school teacher wants it. But the roads, the turns, and the pace that we take to complete that finished product is entirely up to you! If your assignment was to create a painting, I will bring the paint and the brushes - but you will paint the masterpiece with your own ideas.I promise to do my very best to help you get the job done and learn some new critical thinking skills along the way. I am enjoyable to work with, and I promise that you will feel proud about the work that we do after every session!Sincerely,James

I'm currently teaching at De La Salle Institute on Chicago's south side. At De La Salle I teach American Literature, AP English IV, and Journalism. I'm also the Yearbook Moderator, ACT Test Prep Writing Instructor, and a member of our One Book, One School committee. In my free time I'm an avid runner, and I've run the past three Chicago Marathons.I enjoy Chicago sports and cheer on the Sox, Bulls, Hawks, and Bears.I rescued a dog three years ago and he has become one of the greatest joys in my life.
I have taught both English and computer science for years. In that time, it became obvious that individual conferences and small groups were the most effective way to learn for many of us. That led me to tutoring. Learning holds power, and I want to help others on their learning journeys. I strive myself to continue learning. I am currently learning Spanish and SQL.
I have a love for learning and a love for teaching. I have my Master's degree in Special Education, Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) and Secondary English Language Arts certifications. My Bachelor's degree is in English from Northeastern University. I am also a Certified Behavior Instructor for students with Autism. Being in the top 15% of my Graduate school class and having graduated college with Summa Cum Laude honors, I know that hard work and dedication in education pays off. I hold myself to a very high standard in my own education, and I like to instill these same values in my students.I spend my days as a Special Education teacher for Chicago Public Schools, working with students in kindergarten through 8th grade. I have also been working as an independent tutor for the last few years. I have extensive experience working with individuals of all ages with a diverse range of needs, including those associated with Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, cognitive delays, and general literacy troubles. I excel in differentiation and the creation of successful learning plans for students. While I work in the field of Special Education, I also have experience in general education classrooms. I have tutored English and taught various classes (literature, composition, phonics) at elementary through high school levels. I have designed curricula, assessments, and activities. For over five years, I also worked for an academic essay assistance company, where I helped with academic essays ranging from middle school through post-college work.In my tutoring, I use research-based educational programs, while also integrating the latest educational technology to complement each student's learning program. I have access to applications and programs that are highly accredited and used in schools, and I believe that they not only provide additional practice, but they also increase student engagement. I create individualized and differentiated programs for students of all ages, learning styles, skill levels, and needs. I can simply help students with their homework or I can create an individualized plan to enhance other skills.I always want to make sure that students are satisfied with each lesson. I assign challenging homework but I never do so without providing the proper instruction and assistance. I will also provide you with progress reports as often as you prefer. I am flexible and I am here to help YOU!
I am a student at DePaul University currently working toward a Bachelors of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Journalism. Previously in my academic career, I tutored students at a bilingual elementary school in southwest Detroit. I also worked extensively as a tutor among high school age students during my time as an upperclassman. I specialize in literature, language arts, and writing. Currently, I hold a job as a Peer Writing Tutor at DePaul University's Center for Writing-based Learning. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to share my passion for learning and ensure that others are optimizing their educational experience. I encourage students to dig deep and form original ideas, rather than taking shortcuts. This way, lessons have a meaningful and lasting impact.
Hello! I'm Caleb. Recent graduate from DePaul University's College of Education, and a specialist in English, Language Arts, and Creative and Analytical Writing. My degree taught me invaluable skills and strategies that I look forward to putting to good use with my students! I like to take a highly personalized approach to teaching, and I design my curricula with my students' skills, interests, and difficulties in the forefront of my mind. I'm a firm believer in reading and writing to learn, and I am deeply committed to social justice, literary arts, and equity.
My passion for tutoring stems from a deep-seated desire to help others grasp complex concepts that have shaped my own academic journey. With a Master's in Business Administration and a Bachelor's in Economics, I have successfully navigated all three levels of the CFA exam. I believe in fostering a supportive learning environment where each student's unique needs are addressed, allowing them to build confidence and achieve their goals. My experience in tutoring CFA subjects has taught me the importance of patience and tailored explanations, as I enjoy guiding students through their challenges and celebrating their successes. Witnessing that moment of understanding is incredibly rewarding, and it fuels my commitment to education.
After graduating from DePaul University with my Bachelor's degree in English Literature, I then went on to receive my Master's degree in Secondary Education from Saint Joseph's University. I became a high school English teacher in Newark, NJ following an excellent experience coordinating an after-school tutoring program in Cincinnati, OH. As a tutor, a teacher, and a mother, I am committed to the world of education. It has been most rewarding to tutor my students in English, literature, and writing. I firmly believe that students learn best when engaging in material that is meaningful to them. I help my students to find relevancy in what they're learning, and I always tailor my lessons to meet the individual needs of the student. Outside of education, I enjoy practicing meditation, cooking, and expressing myself through bonsai and wood burning art.
I am a humorist, so please don't take my stern photo too seriously!I love mathematics, logic, probability, machine learning, decision making, and non-empirical theories of everything... But that should not intimidate you! I have extensive experience teaching Undergraduates in a variety of subject areas (by the time you read this, I will probably be again teaching in person courses at a University concurrently). Before I get too deep into me... I expect to focus my efforts on general college level mathematics, probability/statistics/decision making (SOA/CAS P Exam qualified), computer science, and data science/machine learning/AI (not robotics other than decision making). If you are studying at a Freshman/Sophomore Undergraduate level or preparing for College, I can meet you at your level at anything I am listed as qualified for. Upperclassmen should ask and the answer will be yes in some areas and no in others! But ask!Personally, I have a BA in Computer Science (Honors) and an MSci in Computational Finance (Honors), areas in which I have published in Academic journals. This prepared me for most recently teaching College Engineering Mathematics (Calculus, Linear Algebra) at a German University (I speak German and can teach in German or Spanish, but I am American and English is my first language). As indicated, I am suited to teach any of a variety of Computer Science related topics as well. (Ask!)I previously received a BA/MA in Philosophy, from prestigious programs, where I concentrated on Mathematical Logic and (what is now considered) Machine Learning. In these programs, I taught Logic, Probability, Inference, and English Composition. This time also infected me with a keen interest in theoretical foundations for Computer Science, Data Science, and Mathematics/Logic.Again, I encourage you to ask me whether I can help you with a topic. In general, I often can't meet a students needs when they are very technical-topic specific or otherwise very specialized mathematical areas... If you need a tutor for the Go programming language, you can probably find somebody, but I am not that person (I do everything I can in Python and its libraries, but know Java/C++/SQL and others, e.g. a bit of Prolog, R/SAS. I also web-scraped the World Factbook to build geo.atheoryof.us)... but just ask and I will help you find your way!
I am a graduate from Southern Illinois University and DePaul university. From SIU I obtained a Bachelor in Arts for Math Education. From DePaul I obtained my Master in Arts for Math Education. I can tutor with all things math related and I have worked with many students from varying degrees of ability and from grades 3rd - College. While tutoring I do my best to make sure you fully understand the material given. I am a firm believer that everyone can do math you just need to learn how. In my spare time I like to read comics and books, do DIY projects around the house, watch TV shows or play video games.
Greetings! I am Lizbeth Alanis I am 24 years old and I am an elementary education teacher to be. I am so excited to help you with anything that you need!
Throughout my lifelong journey in both business and education, I have discovered a deep and enduring passion for supporting learners - a passion that stems from my own experience mastering complex subjects and thriving in dynamic professional roles. I hold a Bachelors in Finance with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chapaign- Urbana, complemented by an MBA in Entrepreneurship from DePaul University, and am a CPA. Over the past 30 years, I have held significant leadership positions across organizations of varying sizes - both public and private, serving in positions such as CFO, COO and General Manager. I have been teaching Accounting for Decision Making and Entrepreneurial Finance to graduate level students for nearly 3 years and look forward to tutoring in areas of algebra, financial accounting and managerial accounting.
I am an educator and mentor dedicated to helping students build confidence, improve performance, and achieve their academic goals. I recently earned my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Miami with a 4.0 GPA and Academic Merit of Distinction. I create supportive, engaging, and goal-oriented learning environments while adapting my teaching approach to meet each student's individual learning needs.
As a passionate tutor with a Bachelor's in Computer Science from DePaul University, I have over 2 years of experience helping students excel in mathematics and computer science. My teaching philosophy centers around fostering a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions and explore concepts deeply. I strive to connect with each student on a personal level, tailoring my approach to their unique learning styles and goals. Witnessing my students grow in confidence and understanding is incredibly rewarding, and I am committed to guiding them on their academic journeys.
I attended DePaul University, and in December, I received a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a concentration in Literary Studies, and French. During my time at DePaul, I was a Writing Center Tutor at the University Center for Writing-based Learning. There, I worked with students from a variety of disciplines on their writing. For example, I tutored freshman who were working on rhetorical analyses as well as senior psychology majors working on personal statements for grad school. The diversity of writing I worked with fostered a sense of adaptability in me that I bring to every new tutoring session. I also tutored English Language Learners, focusing more on the technical aspects of language and honing their speaking skills. I tutor any subject under the broad spectrum of English: college writing, reading comprehension, literary analyses, speech and argumentative writing, and so forth. I also tutor French! I received my degree in French and spent a semester abroad in Paris, where I lived with a host family and soaked in the culture, like a slice of baguette bread mopping up a delicious sauce. My tutoring style is direct but not overbearing: I know how to direct students to the right answer, but I will do so through leading questions, providing examples, or referencing rules or conventions that the student has learned previously. Students possess the knowledge the obtain the right answer but sometimes have to be guided to it; that's the purpose of education and tutoring. Because education is so monumental in shaping students' futures, it's crucial that they receive the attention necessary to succeed.Because of my love of all things literary, my hobbies include reading, writing, and attending literary events such as poetry and fiction readings. I also love to dance and to play piano; anything musical interests me! I am a certified Francophile: French food, movies, and culture absolutely excite me, and I love to share my knowledge and experience with others!
Hi! My background includes a Bachelor's degree in English from Roosevelt University, and a Master's degree in Writing and Publishing from DePaul University. In late 2019, I had the opportunity to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the College of Lake County (for an English Composition I class). I also had the honor and privilege of working as a Peer Writing Tutor for DePaul University's Writing Center. I collaborated with both Undergraduate and Graduate students of all studies/disciplines on any writing-based projects, both personal and academic. I provided writing support to clients with the goal of helping them become even more successful writers in school and beyond. Currently, I am working as tutor in a freelance capacity. Over the past year, I have worked with dozens of students on the following platforms: Tutor.com, TutorMe and Smarthinking. I helped clients with brainstorming writing ideas, providing sources, improving writing quality, and developing argumentation skills.I firmly believe that learning should be fun. Nothing motivates learners as much as fun does because it comes from genuine interest from within instead of pressure from others. Students are much more likely to invest extra time in the learning process if they enjoy it.
I am a happy English Teacher. I learned to teach while serving in the Peace Corps in Poland. I have 15 years of teaching experience and 6 years of experience tutoring students of all ages. I am especially good at elementary school Language Arts and Math. I have a Ph.D. in Education from DePaul University in Chicago and love to work with all kinds of students from everywhere. My BA is from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, Phi Beta Kappa, and my MA is in Public Policy from the George Washington University in Washington DC. I have taught here in the US for many years and also overseas. I would love to meet you!My doctoral work is in Gifted Education, so if your student is particularly good in certain subjects I may be the teacher for you. I taught Gifted Enrichment at the high school level for 5 years and assisted in a curriculum redesign. I have also taught gifted elementary students. This is a passion of mine though I am happy to teach any student who needs to improve academically.
It's been over five years since I graduated college and I can honestly say that I miss it. I miss learning. And I miss the free and open discussion with my classmates. Not everyone's experience with school is as positive as mine was, but I don't believe that learning should be a struggle.Going to school builds an academic base for your future and it sets you up for the way you will live the rest of your life. But learning doesn't have to be a chore. I believe that, with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, any problem can be overcome. I believe that learning how to problem-solve and how to think through your problems is more important than the rote memorization of facts. And I believe that tenacious, hardworking students make successful adults.I would love to help you in your process of learning, creative and growth.
I'm an elementary special education teacher during the year. During the summer I would like to help students enhance their skills in an engaging manner.

I have always had a passion for literacy and multicultural education. During my tenure at DePaul University I completed an externship where I worked at a literacy center tutoring ESL student's and creating individualized education plans. I loved working with students at the literacy center and I felt a deep sense of accomplishment when I was able to help them accomplish their personal goals.I went on to obtain a Master of Education Degree and TEFL certification to help me transition into a teaching career and to prepare me to meet the educational needs of my students. While pursuing my education, I was a struggling single mother with a full-time job, and I was often stressed out and tired. However, I had a wonderful mentor who would encourage me and uplift my spirits when I felt like giving up. It is now my sincere desire to pay it forward. My personal goal is to always guide, uplift and teach my students they can accomplish anything with hard work and faith in themselves.

I have been tutoring since high school, when I tutored students in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Chemistry. Since then, I have tutored for four years at the college level in both German and Music Theory/Aural Skills. I have also twice co-taught an intensive one-month long German 101 course, where I designed the lesson plans, and graded homework, quizzes and tests.I am a great tutor because of my broad experience in tutoring many different subjects, so that I have a wide variety of approaches to help all types of students master the material. I also believe that, in my German tutoring especially, I'm very systematic, so that my students have a strong grammar foundation on which to build further skills and concepts. I have also lived in Germany for a year, and am able to bring world-life experiences into tutoring sessions, so that I can instill in my students a desire to learn more of the German language through a glimpse of what is possible once one has a basis in the language. I also have taken German Diction classes because of my background in vocal performance, and this means that I am especially adept at dealing with difficulties in pronunciation, or when students are having trouble hearing the difference between those pesky umlauts!
I am a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences with focus on literature and classics. I am also graduate of DePaul University with a Masters of Fine Arts with focus on screenwriting, where my thesis earned distinction. Since graduation, in 2020 no less, I have written several film and television pilots and have been apart of some pretty cool film projects in Montreal, New York, and Chicago. While I am able to tutor/work within many subjects, I am most passionate about literature (American, British, Russian, and the Classics) and writing and editing; if it be creative, academic, admission essays or just a run of the mill english paper. I'm passionate about these subjects because I believe that the power to make a difference starts with the written word; in understanding it and being able to pragmatically put it into use. No meaningful change can happen without the ability to properly articulate one's thoughts and feelings by way of the written word. And I try to instill that passion for the written word into each one of my students.

I also love helping students (and even friends and family sometimes!) craft their arguments and writing in the ways they want.
