I am an experienced tutor of over 5 years and cover all subjects for middle school students, most for high school students, and some for college students. I believe that students learn best with personalized instruction that caters to their learning type. I received my Master's degree in Public Service Management from Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN (2025) and my Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN (2012). I graduated with honors from both programs. My special areas of interest are Ethics, Politics, and Writing.

I am a chemistry tutor with a solid academic and teaching background, possessing more than seven years of experience in chemistry. Being a tutor is an exciting interaction surpassing anything else I have experienced. I want to continue tutoring because I can positively influence students to reach their full potential academically. Enabling students to understand the basic knowledge and skills they may use for the rest of their lives is mightily rewarding. I have had a tremendously positive experience of both high school and college education. I received a chemistry bachelor's degree at the Cross River University of Technology, Nigeria, and a master's degree in chemistry at East Tennessee State University, TN. As a high school classroom teacher, and a graduate assistant, I taught a Chemistry course and instructed Organic Chemistry laboratory sessions, respectively. These teaching assignments have kindled positive and gratifying responses. The work of Howard Gardner has influenced my learning style. He theorized that we have many kinds of intelligence and that everyone has the potential to be brilliant but tends to express it uniquely. Therefore, all students have a unique learning style that is suitable for them. As a tutor, I can meet my students' academic needs provided I know their right learning style. Outside teaching, I volunteer in my local church youth weekly program to set up the gym so that the youths could have some fun games before listening to Bible-based teaching. I believe the spiritual well-being of an individual is just as important as their academic success. Volunteering my time to something that makes young people spiritually and mentally fit is fulfilling. Having decided to teach, I look forward to working as a tutor. It will be an honor to make a real difference in the life of those I tutor.

My decision to study English stemmed from my desires to be a writer. I was always told I was a good poet and dramatist, however, I did not know if that was a career path I was willing to follow. I finally decided to study English and take up writing classes. I met up with writing coaches who instilled in me the necessary tools and skills needed to be a successful writer. I as an adult and an English major would also like to impact the younger generation on how to be better students and writers. I have a Masters degree in English and I'm a current PhD. student in English. I teach first and second year English at the university I school at and I've also taught high school English and some college prep classes.
Students are in need of educators who are dedicated to the improvement of our students, educators who communicate well with parents and the community about the challenges this country faces in the arena of education; and educators who will not quit until positive results are met. I am that educator.Learning has always been a part of my growing process. I graduated with honors from Asheville High School; attended both Brevard College and High Point University where I received my Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees; and I received my Masters of Education Degree in 2010 from East Tennessee State University. Also, I served in the United States Army as a decorated non-commissioned officer. When I was in the classroom, I taught middle grades language arts and social studies as a licensed teacher in North Carolina. While teaching, I helped improve the writing scores to passing for my seventh grade students. It was fun for me to see students learn writing and improve their reading. I tutored for four years for a national Learning Center where I helped students improve reading and writing skills. Therefore, my favorite areas of tutoring are both reading and writing.A rapport must be made with the student I tutor. My former students still consider me a friend and someone to call on. I have written countless college recommendations over the years. I believe a student needs a friend that will listen and help them when they are ready to improve.Outside of teaching, I enjoy photography, jazz, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. My belief is a smile goes a long way. Relaxing and enjoying the life we have is a blessing.
