I love problem-solving, so a career in financial management was my fate. My most recent challenge was adjusting my teaching style to middle school students and relating studies to real-life experiences.Teaching Experience - College:Taught post-secondary education classes in Business Communication, Principles of Management, Introduction to Business, Personal Finance, and Introduction to Entrepreneurship from 2012 to 2019. I was an Adjunct Professor at the local community college.Teaching Experience Middle School:Since Oct. of 2019, I am teaching middle school business education classes for the state of North Carolina. My main focus is on introducing business concepts to primary school students in grades 6th-8th. I teach Business Activities, Business Procedures and Leadership, and Keyboarding and Word Processing fundamentals.I have a Bachelor's Degree in Management, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration in addition to post-secondary credits toward a Doctor of Education Degree. As a nature teacher and world explorer, I have worked with children around the globe for the past twenty years. In the last four years, around 5,000 students have been a part of my online classroom! With a background in environmental, experiential, and Montessori education, I guide children of all ages to learn about animals, plants, and Earth science. My education includes a Master of Science in ecological leadership and education, and a Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies, with minors in marine science and anthropology. I am passionate about inspiring excitement and curiosity for the environment by creatively presenting information to students in multifaceted formats. My real-life rainforest adventures on almost every continent have brought me face to face with unique wild animals. I integrate stories from my travels, my wildlife photography, and props such as bones, fossils, rocks, and crystals from my science shelf into my classes. Program animals Scaly, the corn snake, Slimy the tiger salamander, and Lizzie the leopard gecko often make live appearances to help with interactive lessons. I will always provide optional supplemental coloring pages, creative art projects, or hands-on science experiments that enhance the lesson and reinforce at home learning.

I have a Masters Degree in Adult Education from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, and a Bachelors Degree from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. My experience in tutoring spans from Elementary school to college/adult students. I was also hired as an English-Speaking Teacher by the Korean government (SOME) in Seoul, S. Korea. I have had the privilege of meeting students from every walk of life and I am forever grateful for that. Yet, my expertise in tutoring is NOT limited to my education and teaching experience. I have learned also from my experiences during my early high school years. I didnt take education seriously and thus I didnt think I could learn. However, as I progressed up the Education ladder and attained my Masters Degree, I made a promise to myself and to those I have taught and will teach, that I will teach with an understanding and compassion for the learner who can learn, but who may not have the confidence. The truth is, everyone can learn. Its just that sometimes we need help discovering that we can accomplish more than we think.

I am a graduate of the writing program at Eckerd College under Sterling Watson, where I received an extensive education on everything from the nuts and bolts of word choices and sentence structure to the underlying philosophy behind good writing. In the years since, I have put my knowledge of writing to use in both a journalistic and marketing capacity, writing everything from news blurbs to product copy to editorials. I am an avid reader and have spent the better part of two decades absorbing new ideas about the craft of writing and refining my understanding of it. I also love sharing what I've gleaned to help others elevate their own abilities and writing development. At present, I work as the Digital Marketing Director for a youth education and personal empowerment company (for whom I either write or edit 99% of all company language and messaging), and I contribute to two online music sites as a creative outlet for my continued interest in music journalism.

I am a dedicated tutor with flexible hours. I received my undergraduate education at Eckerd College, where I received a BA in literature and creative writing, and I am currently enrolled in Emerson’s creative writing MFA. I have experience teaching in classrooms from my two years working with AmeriCorps, where I taught 7th grade language arts. I am offering tutoring, for all grade levels, in grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, literature, essay composition. I am also offering tutoring in ACT reading and GRE verbal prep.My overall favorite subject to teach is reading and literature. I feel it is one of the subjects that offers something for everyone. I currently work as an Academic Advisor at a public university, where I advise hundreds of undergraduate students each year across a wide range of academic, professional, and personal challenges related to college success. I hold two master's in Political Science and one in Cybersecurity. This combination allows me to support students not only with course content, but with critical thinking, research, writing, organization, and study strategies that carry across disciplines. I am a graduate from Columbia University with a dual degree in Physics and Mechanical Engineering.I first began tutoring with a non-profit organization, WhizKids, where tutors were paired with elementary aged children from lower-income neighborhoods to help with homework. Since then, I was a tutor at my first college, where I tutored groups of college-aged students in math and physics. Since I began tutoring, I've loved the connections I was able to make with students, as well as the joy of watching each student become more confident and proud of themselves as they work through the subjects they initially had struggled with. I also love challenging myself in determining ways I can modify my teaching and tutoring methods to the many unique and various learning styles I encounter with each student. Since my major has been mostly math-based, I love teaching calculus 1 and 2 as well as Physics the most. I love the connection that is made between calculus and how it is applied in real-world applications and especially love sharing this passion to the students that I work with. Whenever I'm able to get a chance, I love playing my cello and sketching.

I am an EMT and second year Biochemistry student at Eckerd College passionate about fueling curiosity. I completed my EMT course and passed the NREMT in June 2023. Since certification, I have applied my skills as a volunteer EMT on the Eckerd College Emergency Response Team from August 2023 - April 2025. I helped aspiring EMT's gain critical knowledge and skills through my position as training deputy. I presented on trauma and medical emergencies, crafted and executed drills, and provided personalized feedback to responders. Additionally, I have been CPR certified since April 2023 and recently received my Instructor Certification through the American Heart Association. I believe in creating at safe and stimulating learning environment where students can ask questions without fear of judgement and fuel their inquisitiveness. While I can offer assistance in a wide variety of fields, I am most passionate about helping students succeed in their EMT courses, both written and psychomotor examinations, as well as passing the NREMT.

In May 2021 I will graduate from Eckerd College with a B.S. in Marine Science (Biology Track) and a B.A. in Spanish. Specific roles that I have been involved with in regard to teaching, mentoring, etc. are numerous. Ever since middle and high school I have worked with kids younger than myself. I have been involved with my church and been a senior intern and a leader on mission trips. As a senior intern I was in charge of planning events for the high school students and then executing them in a timely manner. As a leader on mission trips, I would be the person that other high school students turned to if they needed something. In high school I was the captain of the varsity soccer team which gave me the chance to be a leader on the team. I would lead the team in practices when the coach was absent and would ensure that the team remained as cohesive as possible. I achieved this by checking in on my teammates each week to see how they were doing. Continuing in high school, I was given the opportunity to be a peer mentor for freshmen students. I was in this role my junior and senior year and what it looked like was having lunch with the same group of freshmen each Friday and asking them how their week was and if there was anything I could do to help. Furthermore, I was able to lead Bible Studies with this group of guys during my time as a peer mentor. I served as someone that they could look up to and come to with any questions in regard to their high school career. In high school I received the Ronald Reagan Student Leader award which is given to one student each year who exhibits exceptional leadership qualities.In the summers of 2018 and 2019 I served as a camp counselor for a Christian camp called Camp Timberline in Estes Park Colorado. During this time, I was in charge of about 12 kids ranging from ages 6-17 and I served as a soccer coach as well as a mountain adventure counselor. As a soccer coach I was tasked to develop a curriculum and come up with drills and games that would not only keep the kids engaged, but also allow them to improve their skills. As a mountain adventure counselor, I aided in the safety of over 1,100 kids while encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone. Some of my other duties while being at Camp Timberline were included but not limited to leading hikes up mountains at 2:30am, leading discussions ("chalk talks") with kids and encouraged them to ask questions about God and their faith, working with other counselors to ensure cabin cohesiveness, and performing skits to keep the kids engaged throughout the day.My freshmen year of college I took LSDP (Leadership and Self Discovery Practicum) and then I facilitated it my sophomore year and I believe that those two winter terms really taught me about what it means to be a leader, teacher, and mentor and how to put specific skills that I have learned into action. For three years at my college, Eckerd College, I have been a Resident Advisor and I have learned many things in regard to leadership. During my time as a Resident Advisor some of my responsibilities were included but not limited to advising students living in my residence halls, establishing a welcoming community as well as a safe environment for residents, resolving interpersonal conflicts, serving on emergency response rotation for a campus of over 1,800 students, and enforcing and upholding college policies.Ever since high school I have had a desire to work with kids (mainly middle school and high school kids) and my hope as a teacher is to be someone that kids can look up to, be encouraged by, and of course learn from. I am a firm believer in interactive learning! I think it is important to not just teach a student from a screen, but to allow them to have some hands-on learning because that is when I have learned the most as a student. The subjects that I am able to tutor are included but not limited to, Spanish (any level), science (biology, anatomy, genetics, marine science, etc.), and chemistry. I have a passion for teaching and I believe that my experience shows that very passion. Hi! My name's Paul, and I just recently returned from 2 years of teaching in Zambia with the US Peace Corps! I have a degree in marine geology and minored in environmental studies. Backing up my classroom knowledge however, is a background in field research and education experience. I've dug up ancient soil and flash-froze sand, but I've also tackled pelicans and painted bat's toenails. My old class in Zambia ranged between 40 and 120 kids, and I taught everything from basic English grammer, to advanced physics! I like to use my background in research and travels to ground seemingly abstract concepts in easy to understand language.

With a BA in Human Development from Eckerd College and prior certification in Social Sciences (grades 6 to 12), I bring a dynamic and student-centered approach to K to 12 tutoring.
