I want to share my passion for psychology with students studying the subject. I like to simplify complex topics using real-world analogies in order to explain the phenomena studied in psychology. My strengths include reframing definitions and helping students build their own systems for effectively remembering material.

All it takes is one person, a voice, a presence, a quiet source of light to help something begin to grow. That light can come from a mentor, a professor, or even a friend. Through my own challenges, I've come to understand how vital that kind of support is, and how deeply it can shape a writer's path. I would not be the writer I am today without the encouragement of a high school mentor and tutor. That simple belief guided me forward, eventually leading me to my work at the writing center at Miami Dade College, where I now support students and develop workshops that help them discover the power and purpose in their writing. Writing, to me, is like watching something take root; it's messy, slow, and often uncertain. But with the right guidance, it grows. Just as I was once guided, I aspire to become a professor and writer who helps others find clarity, confidence, and strength in their writing.

I am currently pursuing a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Florida International University. During my undergraduate career, I was offered a research position from a professor due to doing extremely well in his class. I accepted this position and quickly became very interested in composite materials. I began to not only do research on the subject of composite materials but also began to write papers and present at conferences. Ultimately, I would like to obtain my PhD in mechanical engineering and pursue a career in academia.

Throughout my college life, I have seen college students looking from help in different courses. After my freshman year in college, I realized that I have the potential to help students. My experience enables me to better understand different approaches to engage students and their diverse learning style via reprisal of ideas, verbal reflection and progression to meaningful conclusions. I believe clear communication of goals and expectations are integral to the tutor-student relationship. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. Soon after, I returned to FIU and began as Student Affairs Program Coordinator at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. In this position, I facilitated program planning and development for medical student wellness and academic support. After a year in that role, I became the Program Coordinator for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion at the medical school, developing and promoting programs and services designed to enhance the intersectionality of the medical schools' college community. Throughout my service in academia, many of my successes include the program development of the pipeline program, the Florida Scientific Training and Research (STAR) program; a multi-year academic and social enrichment program developed to prepare undergraduate minority students for a career in medicine, and the facilitation of a fundraising event that raised over $10,000 in scholarship for students historically underrepresented in medicine. In addition, I coordinated the National Pre-Faculty Career Development Conference for Trainees and Faculty, which brought together trainees, faculty, and senior leaders to share activities and best practices to better prepare college, graduate, and post-doctoral professionals to consider pursuing careers as educators and researchers in the STEM field.

I even worked as an Educational Specialist for my school district at the time in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It wasn't until I started teaching at the High School level that I realized my true calling: Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing. The joy on my students' faces when they listened to themselves reading orally on tape and then compared that recording to the one that I had previously recorded of them at the beginning of the school year is to date my favorite experience as an educator.At present, I left the classroom and now tutor full-time. In high school, I was part of Mu Alpha Theta and tutored students in almost all subjects of Math on a weekly basis. During my years in college, I worked as a Learning Assistant with the math department at FIU, tutoring and helping student in College Algebra, Calculus I and Calculus 2. I served as an assistant to the Math teachers to help protector tests, grade homework/classwork, and held group study sessions outside of class with groups of students. Privately, I have also offered my tutoring services to a countless number of people in subjects from College algebra to Calculus III and have always had positive outcomes.
