All it takes is one person, a voice, a presence, a quiet source of light to help something begin to grow. That light can come from a mentor, a professor, or even a friend. Through my own challenges, I've come to understand how vital that kind of support is, and how deeply it can shape a writer's path. I would not be the writer I am today without the encouragement of a high school mentor and tutor. That simple belief guided me forward, eventually leading me to my work at the writing center at Miami Dade College, where I now support students and develop workshops that help them discover the power and purpose in their writing. Writing, to me, is like watching something take root; it's messy, slow, and often uncertain. But with the right guidance, it grows. Just as I was once guided, I aspire to become a professor and writer who helps others find clarity, confidence, and strength in their writing.

I attended Florida International University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and my Master of Arts in Linguistics. As a graduate teaching assistant, I tutored for all areas of linguistics and I taught Writing & Rhetoric as well. Since graduation, I taught English as a foreign language in Japan at five junior high schools over the course of few years. More recently, I have been taking the prerequisites, e.g. Chemistry, Physics, Statistics and Human Anatomy/Physiology, required to apply to Doctorate of Physical Therapy programs for the fall of 2016. I am well-acquainted with and adept in instruction for various subjects. However, my favorites subjects are math and writing/literature/languages, albeit the latter is not conventionally thought of as one subject. In essence, I love to solve puzzles; each aforementioned subject entails figuring out how the constituents interact with one another while abiding by specific rules and, sometimes, exceptions.Through divergent thinking and debate of dialogic points of view, students are pushed outside their comfort zone and are pushed to think for themselves. To teach is to learn and I encourage my students to teach themselves, teach each other and to teach me. My experience enables me to better understand different approaches to engage students and their diverse learning style via reprisal of ideas, verbal reflection and progression to meaningful conclusions. I believe clear communication of goals and expectations are integral to the tutor-student relationship. Working for a diverse group of students will allow me to become more proficient in imparting knowledge and skills for whichever subject comes our way.In my free time, I like to read pieces of writing by authors such Milan Kundera, Haruki Murakami, Wallace Stevens and Alan Moore, listen to music by artists such as Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, and Sakanaction, and be outside so I can run, swim and perpetually look like I am about to fall off a paddle board.

For me, teaching isn't just a job it's a passion. I've been coaching and teaching for over 20 years, and I still get goosebumps every time I see a student light up when they "get it." Watching you grow and blossom is one of the greatest joys of my life. My approach is simple: I meet you where you are, and if one method doesn't work, I'll keep adjusting until we find what clicks. Every student's journey is unique, and I'm here to make sure you feel supported every step of the way. My journey began with a love of learning and performance. I earned my degree in English Literature from Florida International University and studied music and voice in Milan, Italy, which led to an international award-winning career in opera and music theater. Those experiences taught me that confidence and charisma aren't gifts they're a skill set anyone can learn. Whether it's helping someone overcome stage fright, nail their presentation, or refine their vocal technique, I love helping people find their voice literally and figuratively. I tutor a wide range of subjects, from Business Marketing and Writing (I'm a bestselling author) to the Performing Arts. But my favorite? Public Speaking. There's nothing like seeing a student transform their fear into confidence. Presentation skills don't just help you professionally. They give you a sense of personal empowerment that can change your life. When I'm not teaching, I'm usually practicing yoga or diving into lifelong learning. I'm always exploring new ways to heal, grow, and help others do the same. Whatever your goals are, I can't wait to help you achieve them.

I earned my Bachelors Degree from Florida International University, and I am currently working on my Masters Degree at Davenport University. I feel that my experiences of temporary teaching and tutoring have been both personally satisfying and beneficial to the children I worked with. I have enjoyed three periods of teaching. My first opportunity to teach was provided by the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, which was one of the necessary ways to get the best experience by teaching language arts, writing, reading comprehension, mathematics, science, geography, social studies or history. Moreover, I was able to work with various levels and a diversity of students. I enjoyed working with students from pre-K to fifth grades there and was interested in the teachers technique of teaching young children.I had the opportunity at my second position at One on One Learning, to instruct my own group of pupils based on their weak subjects in the comfort of their homes. I was allowed to devise my own teaching methods and I received great satisfaction when the children showed understanding and progress. My third experience was provided by Sylvan Learning Center when I worked as a tutor by focusing on standard core subjects such as mathematics and reading. I enjoyed the opportunity to teach older children as the lessons were more tightly structured so that a better understanding could be attained.I am now certain that it is the education of the elementary age group that I would like to specialize in as at this level I would be able to teach mathematics to the depth at which it becomes the most interesting and enlightening. I would hope to give my students a good foundation since I feel that nearly every profession uses some form of mathematics.

I've taught as a Florida certified high school teacher and also tutored young as elementary children. Some of my students are dyslexic, under the umbrella of special needs, or don't even speak the same language as I do.No matter the child, because I am my energetic and youthful self, students can relate to me and are more in tuned to want to learn from me. If I have to speak to my student in meme, pop culture, or in the lingo of the latest social media trends, they will get my message.I spent my first year of education tutoring only students diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD at an intensive learning center, as the two are often paired. I was trained in methods such as Orton Gillingham and Linda Mood Bell that work better for this target group. The experience taught me plenty about multiple learning styles. Educators must strive to fully stimulate their students. Sometimes it requires triggering all senses and figuring which sense the child learns with best. Repetition of writing, saying, touching, and organizing letters & numbers in the form of chips, blocks, sand and various tactile mediums can make for the best results and sometimes none of this is needed. I, the teacher, have learned to be flexible in approach and to listen to my student the same way I expect him or her to listen to me. So when I teach, we both learn. And through this process, I maintain my youth.Tell me what your specific challenge is, whether it's a particular subject, organization,or just the need for a homework buddy when mom and dad don't have time.Let's see what we can work out

I have had the honor of working for Florida International University (FIU) for the past 14 years. I have held administrative roles throughout those years that supported students' academic success in pursuing their undergraduate and graduate degrees. I am fondly proud of the years of experience and success I've gained while working in academia and STEM education, including academic advising, undergraduate and graduate medical education, and higher education program planning and development. My desire to open doors for underrepresented students who have high hopes of entering professional fields and may not have the advantages of doing it on their own is the driving force behind my ability to maintain success in many of the positions I have held in academia.I obtained my BA in Public Administration from Florida International University in 2011 and completed my Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Organizations and Community Development in August 2019. As a native of Miami, I have had the opportunity to work in higher education for over 14 years in administrative roles that support students' academic success in pursuing their graduate degrees. After completing my undergraduate degree, I began working as the Graduate Senior Secretary for the Biology department at FIU. I worked directly with the Program Director and Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences in various areas, including admissions, graduate school support, and student academic success. In 2014, I transitioned into the medical education discipline as the assistant to the Vice Dean for Medical Education and Student Affairs at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. In this role, I coordinated the medical school's entire accreditation process, curriculum development, faculty affairs, and Graduate Medical Education. Soon after, I returned to FIU and began as Student Affairs Program Coordinator at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. In this position, I facilitated program planning and development for medical student wellness and academic support. After a year in that role, I became the Program Coordinator for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion at the medical school, developing and promoting programs and services designed to enhance the intersectionality of the medical schools' college community. Throughout my service in academia, many of my successes include the program development of the pipeline program, the Florida Scientific Training and Research (STAR) program; a multi-year academic and social enrichment program developed to prepare undergraduate minority students for a career in medicine, and the facilitation of a fundraising event that raised over $10,000 in scholarship for students historically underrepresented in medicine. In addition, I coordinated the National Pre-Faculty Career Development Conference for Trainees and Faculty, which brought together trainees, faculty, and senior leaders to share activities and best practices to better prepare college, graduate, and post-doctoral professionals to consider pursuing careers as educators and researchers in the STEM field.

I graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. As I completed my degree, I spent about three years working as a tutor – a time during which I had the opportunity to help students of a wide range of ages: from elementary school kids, to high school seniors and college sophomores. I can tutor several subjects in the areas of writing, reading, and mathematics, up to early college-level. I can also help with preparation for standardized tests, such as SAT and GRE, which I particularly enjoy. Perhaps the best word to describe my love for teaching and learning is PASSIONATE! Since I was seven years old, I knew I would become a teacher. After earning my Associates Degree at Broward College and then obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at (FIU) Florida International University, I was fortunate enough to receive a full scholarship from FIU to earn my Master's Degree in Urban Education. It was only a matter of time before I aimed in pursuit of the highest degree one can earn, hence receiving my Doctoral Degree in Advanced Classroom Instruction Professional Studies from Capella University. With exposure to all Elementary School subjects, I have taught a little of everything from 1st grade to 2nd grade to 3rd grade to 4th grade. I even worked as an Educational Specialist for my school district at the time in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It wasn't until I started teaching at the High School level that I realized my true calling: Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing. The joy on my students' faces when they listened to themselves reading orally on tape and then compared that recording to the one that I had previously recorded of them at the beginning of the school year is to date my favorite experience as an educator. At present, I left the classroom and now tutor full-time. I tutor all elementary subjects (Grades K-5), as well as grades K through 12th in Reading/Language Arts/ Grammar/Writing.My favorite thing to do outside of tutoring is to write. I am proud to say that I have five children's books written and published.I believe in working hard, always trying, doing your best, challenging yourself, and making the best of every situation, and I apply those beliefs in how I teach/tutor. It is my job to teach you. It is your job to let me teach you so you can learn. Let's do this together.

I am a graduate of Florida International University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on HVAC. In high school, I was part of Mu Alpha Theta and tutored students in almost all subjects of Math on a weekly basis. During my years in college, I worked as a Learning Assistant with the math department at FIU, tutoring and helping student in College Algebra, Calculus I and Calculus 2. I served as an assistant to the Math teachers to help protector tests, grade homework/classwork, and held group study sessions outside of class with groups of students. Privately, I have also offered my tutoring services to a countless number of people in subjects from College algebra to Calculus III and have always had positive outcomes. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math, Physics, and Chemistry. In my opinion, teaching is a very rewarding for both the student and the teacher. Teaching, in some ways, is an art that requires a unique approach to each unique student. When i have a new student, I start by learning about the student first before I teach them. I do not use the same application or method of teaching for everyone. I need to know where the student is coming from, what their attitude is toward a subject, and what are their strengths/weakness. With this, I develop a schematic method of teaching for the student to most effectively adhere to his/her needs.

I am a recent graduate of Florida International University, with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Prior to graduation, I explored the domain of tutoring for the very first time. The experience was quite enriching, and I found it mutually beneficial to both the students and myself. While I am open to tutoring a broad range of topics, I am most passionate about English, Literature, Math, and multi-disciplinary Engineering principles. My tutoring style varies from student to student as I find it optimal to meet the student where they are rather than force them to adapt to a particular style. One of my most successful tactic has been to use educational sites such as Blooket to gage students' performance in a competitive setting. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading various works of literature, watching anime, playing basketball/soccer, and occasionally lounging on a recliner during rainy days.
