I was born and raised in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. In 2009, I graduated with honors from North Allegheny Senior High School and then studied education at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. In August of 2018, I completed my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon University. I am certified to teach Early Childhood Education (PreK-4), Grades 5-6 (all subjects), Special Education (PreK-8), Social Studies (7-8) and Middle School English and Math (6-9). I have experience with children ranging from grades PreK-8.Currently, I teach at Seneca Valley Middle School in Harmony, PA. I teach learning support classes in the resource room setting for Reading, English, and Math. I also teach a support study hall which focuses on developing organizational, study, and social skills. I support students through co-taught inclusion classes for Science and Social Studies. My eighth grade students have severe specific learning disabilities in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Many of them also have speech and language needs as well as emotional/behavioral needs. My aim is to provide the best quality education possible and help my students grow by collaborating with the families and other professional and support staff. I am certified to administer both the PSSA and PASA tests.I have also taught at Eden Christian Academy, a private non-denominational Christian school in Wexford, PA. I specialized in 3rd Grade Language Arts and Writing; however, I also taught Reading, Spelling, Science, Social Studies, Handwriting, and Bible. The students I have worked with throughout my experiences have presented needs such as ADD/ADHD, OCD, anxiety, autism (ranging from mild to severe), Down's syndrome, mild vision and hearing impairments, and giftedness.I love teaching because of the influence, impact, and importance education has on a child's life. To me, serving in a role where I can partner with families and colleagues in order to make something "click" for a child, and to be able to rejoice in those small victories, is what teaching is all about.Outside of school, I enjoy reading, making crafts, and spending time with loved ones. The best way to learn is to correct and review mistakes. This ensures that fewer and fewer errors are made in subsequent performances. Practice and discipline will lead to perfection. I am a graduate of Gannon University. I received my Master of Education degree with a major in Curriculum and Instruction. I have been a certified teacher for 30 years and there is nothing more rewarding then watching that "A-ha!" moment from my students. These moments happen by building trust, having patience, and even putting in a little sense of humor when needed.I have tutored all elementary subjects, reading, and writing. My favorite subjects to tutor are writing, reading, and math. I have always excelled in these myself and am very comfortable helping others to do well in these areas also.My passion for teaching goes all the way back to my childhood. My parents knew right away that I would be a teacher by the way I interacted with others. When someone needed help, I didn't do it for them, I guided them to explore and experiment on their own to achieve the goal. To this day, I am still helping people/students in the same way. This helps them build the confidence they need to prepare for the next level of learning.My philosophy of education is built upon my love for and experience in teaching. If I were asked to describe myself in as few words as possible, it would be firm, but loving. Consistently seeking feedback before, during, and after lessons to check my students' level of understanding gives me the direction needed to continue teaching them successfully. In areas where students may lose focus, I prepare creative techniques or tactics to help make the important aspect of each lesson memorable and enjoyable as possible. These examples may sound like theories, but they have been my faithful, tried and true practices that make me a successful teacher.

I am an alum of Gannon University where I recently graduated summa cum laude with my Bachelor of Health Science. I will be continuing my education at Ohio University, working toward attaining my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Since graduating, I have continued my role as a dance instructor with an organization called the Inner-city Neighborhood Art House an after-school program that offers a variety of artistic classes to under-privileged inner-city students of all ages. In addition to this, during my time at Gannon University I was a physics STEM PASS tutor. I was responsible for leading multiple group tutoring sessions a week, available to all students enrolled in the College Physics 1 course. Along with my physics tutoring role, I also spent time individually tutoring my peers and relatives in a variety of subjects at different levels, spanning from elementary to college coursework. While I am comfortable tutoring most elementary, middle and high school subjects as well as most introductory college courses, I most enjoy science and math based subjects, essay editing, and introductory Spanish and American Sign Language. There's nothing I love more than being able to witness a concept click in a student's mind after putting so much effort in to understanding it. Working through various learning methods until finding the one that works for YOU specifically is key to reaching this level of understanding and knowledge.

Often times I hear "I'll never use this. Why do we have to learn this?" My goal is to make Math concepts relatable, using real-world examples as often as possible. Throughout my teaching career I have spent the majority of my time teaching Middle School Math specifically 6-8th grades.I received my undergraduate in Elementary Education. I have earned a Masters Degree in School Counseling.I am excited to tutor students in Mathematics. In addition, making use of my second degree, I have numerous studies and organizational skills to share for those who are looking to improve in those areas. Being organize and having a plan is a great way to start each day.

Hello, my name is Eric! I'm originally from Erie, PA, where I graduated from Gannon University with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry. While at Gannon University I spent time working in the Math & Science Center, tutoring fellow undergraduate students in various math and science subjects, including : calculus I, calculus II, pre-calculus, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. I also tutored students in various chemistry subjects as well as physics I and II. After graduating from Gannon University, I moved to Richmond, VA to get my PhD in Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. At VCU, I took several graduate level chemistry courses that have sharpened my expertise, as well as engaging in graduate level research for the past five years, specializing in physical chemistry, and publishing two first-author papers in ACS Langmuir. In addition, I worked as a TA at VCU for all five of my years there, teaching students in introductory chemistry, general chemistry I, general chemistry II, and physical chemistry I-III.Tutoring at Gannon University made me fall in love with teaching and fueled my desire to become a professor, leading to my decision to go to VCU for my PhD. I am extremely passionate about science and love helping students come to a place of understanding and appreciation for the material they are learning. I have always been a strong student and have several years of experience as a peer tutor as well as a over 4 years as a professional tutor. I tutor several subjects at various grade levels. I love teaching English, phonics, reading, and writing and have worked at my university's Writing and Research Center for 2 years. I also really enjoy tutoring math across grade levels. The Unexamined life is not a life worth living. This quote has changed my life in more ways than I can fathom. It started me down the path of Aristotealian and Thomistic philosophy. It would be no exaggeration to say I had fallen in love with philosophy. My exploration of philosophy began at a Gannon University. There I had been educated in the history of philosophy from great thinkers like Dr. Peter Kreeft. After Gannon University I eventually became a philosophy teacher at Tyburn Academy. Teaching a small history of philosophy, philosophy of human nature and an introduction to Thomistic metaphysics. It is my goal to show as many students as possible that the life in pursuit of wisdom is a good life.
