My name is Shane Gottberg and I am a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University with a double major in Political Science and Economics. I am a four year starter on the Lacrosse team, and will be continuing my education and lacrosse career at the University of Nottingham in the U.K. I would not have had these opportunities without the scholarship money I received in part due to my test scores, and am excited for the opportunity to help others do the same

I am a learner. I enjoy learning information and using that information to dive deeper into my interests, understand and see the world in a different way and most importantly, teach others. I feel that I am called to be an educator because it appeals to what I enjoy doing and keeps that curiosity alive.
I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2021. I taught middle school and high school science, grades 7th-10th before becoming a tutor. Science is my absolute passion and I cannot wait to help you on your learning journey!
Hello everyone! My name is Carson (no need for Mr. Carson or anything), and I am a high school social studies teacher. I earned a 4-year degree in History and then a Master's in Teaching. I am very knowledgeable about all types of social studies, from World History to Government. I am a teacher who values relationships with students and tries to connect each concept with each student individually so they can better understand. I look forward to meeting everyone!
I am proud to say that I am a lifelong learner. I have had the privilege of being educated across three different continents from Montessori, public, parochial, magnet, Ivy League, private, and adult learning institutions. I have just recently finished my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Magna Cum Laude with Honors, at Lenoir-Rhyne University. have a Bachelors in Psychology after attending both Yale and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Masters in Business Administration from Pfeiffer University, and am currently working on a second Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Lenoir-Rhyne University. I completely understand the pressures of maintaining good grades with extracurricular activities, trying to stay competitive for college or graduate school, and even having to study within time-constraints from having to juggle a full-time job. I know first-hand how demoralizing making sub-par grades can be, but also the triumph of learning how to redirect focus and learning strategies while rebuilding confidence. I love to teach just as much as I love to learn. I truly believe where there's a will, there's a way, and hopefully an "A"! If you really want to understand the "why" and not just the "what will be on the test," then I'm your gal. Apart from academia, I have been a fitness instructor for 20 years, and also enjoy Latin dancing, cooking, and multicultural experiences.
I am a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Instructional Studies with a minor in Visual Arts. I loved working with the Hickory Museum of Art in their education department. The experiences I had at the Hickory Museum of Art are what encouraged me to become a teacher of the arts.I believe that those who facilitate learning can encourage others to be lifelong learners. I love helping children experience the arts with hands-on activities. I look forward to learning together!
In my experience both as an instructor and as a student, I have found that traditional approaches to learning often fail to take individual needs into account. As a specialist in game-based learning approaches, I find the concept of play and creativity to be absolutely critical to personal and professional growth. A student's educational experience should be tailored to match their interests, and likewise, the subjects they are studying should do the same. As a tutor, I am driven to provide guidance and support for my students to help them overcome challenges and make learning a genuinely enjoyable experience. I utilize games as a primary tool for learning and find that students of all ages can grasp concepts better if they have fun.
My goal as an educator is to first form a relationship with my students built on mutual trust and respect. I believe everyone can learn, but individuals learn in different ways. Through a love of learning, I guide cheer, motive and inspire my students to meet their goals.
With over 25 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of working with students in grades K, 2, 3, and 4, helping children build strong academic foundations. In addition to classroom teaching, I have spent the past 20 years tutoring students in reading and math, working with grades 38. As a North Carolina certified teacher, I am passionate about helping students succeed, especially in math, which is my favorite subject to teach and tutor. I believe every child can learn with patience, encouragement, and the right support. One of the reasons I connect so well with struggling learners is because I personally struggled with reading and math as a young student. Those experiences have given me understanding, compassion, and the ability to encourage students who may lack confidence in their abilities. My goal is to help each student strengthen skills, gain confidence, and develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime!

I am currently a professional student at Mercer University working on my Doctor of Pharmacy. As an undergraduate, I attended Lenoir-Rhyne University where I double majored in Biology and Chemistry. Having tutored both subjects, I have been able to experience and explain a variety of problems and concepts that have given students trouble. My hope as a tutor is to help students overcome problems in their science courses and demonstrate that Science is fascinating!
