I've been tutoring for over a decade with my most intensive tutoring being over the last year and a half. My passion for education started to unearth itself as I earned my BS in Biology and BA in Philosophy from the University of Miami and graduated to work at the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics. It was here I was published for my work involving reprogramming autistic blood cells to stem cells, and then to neurons. I realized that I really loved sharing my work and teaching it to others. I went on to earn my Master's of Science in Biotechnology from Rush University and started to share this passion and energy of mine with others. Before starting my PhD, I decided I wanted to share science with the world and began my first scientific media project, Biolitics podcast and Biolitics.org. I left my PhD a few months after starting to build my media company and tutor full time. Not only do I truly love seeing my children succeed, I love being able to use my ability to teach and teach well to help support my dreams. I have the fortune of tutoring students one on one and then taking my passion for education behind the microphone to share with the world. I'm a strong public speaker and my high energy and charisma helps keeps my students engaged.

Hello! I have been teaching/tutoring for almost 10 years now and have worked with students from elementary levels to doctoral levels. I currently am an adjunct professor in neuroscience and psychology at Dominican University and work for a biotechnology company. I have my PhD in neuropharmacology and my undergraduate degree is in neuroscience and psychology. I am a published author with six manuscripts in top tier peer-reviewed journals, a book chapter in preparation and have lectured at a large variety of invited speaking events. I have taken many many science, math and psychology courses. I love to learn and love to help other people learn both basic and complicated topics. If you are struggling, I've been there, and am here to help!
For the past seven years, I have had the opportunity to tutor students in a variety of subjects. From elementary school to college, each age group brings about its own joys and rewards. I pride myself on truly taking the time to assess the strength of my clients and to search for areas that may need improvement. As an occupational therapy student, I have been trained in how to break down seemingly daunting subjects into simpler terms, and this has yielded success in my previous clients. By making each subject relatable and implementing a variety of instructional methods, I hope to foster a deeper understanding of course content in my students and provide them with general study tips which can be applied to all subjects and assignments.
I am currently a graduate student at Rush University earning my M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology with an expected graduation date of April 2023. My undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a minor in psychology and I graduated from here in May of 2021.While at the University of Illinois, I was a tutor for collegiate student athletes for two years! This was my first exposure to the world of tutoring and I absolutely loved it. I tutored in a wide range of subjects including English, Statistics, various sciences, and study/organizational skills. Once I began my masters program, I gained experience working with patients of all ages and wide range of language, academic, cognitive, executive functioning, and social needs. The treatment plans I create for school-aged patients are always based on their curricular and academic needs, so I have the skills to develop lesson plans appropriate to any students needs. At the end of the day, I have always loved being a student and helping others learn. I understand that everyone has their own learning styles and should be treated as the unique individual they are!
I graduated from Rush University Medical college in 2021 and am currently an intern at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes Jewish Hospital. I received my Bachelor of Science at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN with a Biochemistry/Molecular Biology major and Psychology minor. Growing up in a household of teachers and being a collegiate swimmer, I understand both educational/learning theory, how to personalize lessons to the learner, test taking strategies and time management skills. I have extensive tutoring experience both as an individual tutor and group tutor in math/science and, of course, medicine. I have proven strategies that work for med school work as well as USMLE Step 1 and 2CK that I want to share! In my spare time, I enjoy staying fit through swimming, baking and exploring the many restaurants in Chicago.
I know how much of a struggle school can be as it was for me when I was younger. I am currently pursuing my PhD in hopes to one day teach the vast knowledge I have learned in my years of biology and research. My motivation is my family and I hope to help you and yours.
My goal as a tutor is to help you understand material by building a solid foundation on which to expand your knowledge. As a current medical student, I know how frustrating it is to struggle through material-- I hate memorizing things, I found reading textbooks tedious, and I lost interest in things I didn't understand. So, in order to be a successful student and future physician, I developed some great learning tactics that I want to pass on to you!The Game Plan:Since every student is different, I will spend some time getting to know you and your goals so that we can work effectively together. Think of me as your study buddy instead of your tutor! I study with my peers by talking through material while incorporating whiteboards and visual aids (pictures, flow charts, tables, graphs). By starting with broad concepts and narrowing toward high-yield details, we promote deeper and more thorough understanding of the material. Teach-back methods help test understanding, identify areas of weakness, and foster critical thinking. Practice questions reinforce and refresh material, build test taking skills, and promote confidence. Above all, this is about your academic success- so we can (and will) adjust to what fits your needs.About Me:I am a medical student at Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL. I am originally from the Washington, DC area. I received a BS in Neuroscience from Bucknell University and was a post-bacc researcher at the NIH for 3 years. I have a younger brother who studies marine biology and is a professional photographer on the side. I have a savannah cat named Cleo (after the Egyptian queen).
As a nurse, online instructor and yoga teacher, tutoring has been part of my daily routine for many years.I feel learning is a lifelong wellness activity. Mastering any subject helps us stay active and engaged with life.Assisting others in maximizing their potential is my joy. I look forward to helping you move forward.
