I have always had a passion for helping youth develop on all levels. I truly believe I was called to become a teacher and for so long, I ran from this. After finally learning that I could motivate the minds and create hope for students in the classroom as well as in life, I have made it my priority to touch as many lives as I possibly can. I taught for 4 years and realized that I have to make a greater impact and reach those that aren't getting their needs met, and now work with an educational nonprofit, and making strides daily to close the achievement gaps.
I believe every person can learn math, it's just we all learn at a different pace and a different way.

I am a recent graduate of Sam Houston State University. As an undergraduate, I was a teaching assistant responsible for teaching chemistry and microbiology labs. I believe each student is an individual and I adjust my tutoring style based on what works best for each individual. For example one child may benefit from visual learning while another student may learn best from a more hands on approach such as practice problems. I love helping students understand a concept that they previously struggled with. It gives you a good feeling to know that you have helped and could possibly have an impact on this child's or teenager's education experience. I absolutely love animals. I read in my spare time. I enjoy spending time with friends and family. If you feel that I'm the right tutor for your child, I'd be delighted to help.
I enjoy helping students of all ages feel confident and success. I have been helping teachers and students for almost 20 years! I have taught elementary, middle and high school math, including algebra and geometry.
I'm reminded of an old saying from the first Karate Kid movie. A quote by Mr. Miyagi when teaching Karate to Daniel."There is no such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher."I believe that's true for most teacher/student relationships, whether it's teaching Karate, English, or anything. The teacher has a profound influence on a student of any age, especially younger ones. That's why I am so passionate about teaching, and of students of all ages. The knowledge and experience I have obtained over the years should be handed down in a positive way so that in time, the student will be able to do the same thing. I love to see students succeed, not matter what the goal is needed no matter how big or small.I can remember one of my students who some time ago was preparing for a MS Word exam. She studied and came very close to passing on her first attempt. She did not give up, and on her second attempt she passed the exam with a much higher score. The look of excitement on her face and the feeling of achievement in her eyes made me feel so happy, because I did my job, and now she can move forward. This student was not a child, or a teenager, or even a person in their 30's and 40's. She is in her mid sixties, but she still felt a sense of accomplishment, and knowing that I guided her along the way is what satisfied me.The education I received helped her, and many other people, and it still helps others to this day.My educational experience includes:- Sam Houston State UniversityBA Marketing- The US Army-University of PhoenixMBA HR-My Computer Career IT CertsCompTIA A+ / Server+MTA Security, Server, Network.LPT Linux-ICT N. HoustonMS Word/Excel/PPT/Outlook/AccessI have been teaching these subjects and especially English for over 10 years. It all started in S. Korea as an ESL teacher, and now I teach at ICT N. Houston. Currently, I teach all MS certification prep classes, math, English, some accounting, science, and a few other things that come my way based on the students' needs. And when it comes to a favorite subject I like to teach; it doesn't matter. I will teach what the students need so they can achieve their goals. In conclusion, my teaching style is a bit of an older style, but hands on. The students will receive direction from me and then apply what they have learned for themselves with me helping and guiding them along the way. And as we work together, no matter the subject, we will achieve our goals.Thank you.
My teaching style emphasizes student-centered learning, differentiation, and the integration of research-based practices. I value active engagement, using visual supports, scaffolding, and authentic texts to make learning meaningful and accessible for all students. I hold a Doctorate in Literacy Education from Sam Houston State University, which has equipped me with a strong foundation in literacy theory, research, and practice. This advanced study not only informs my teaching but also drives my passion for mentoring educators and fostering a love of reading in every classroom I serve.
I believe all students, regardless of age or ability, should be "met where they are" and treated with respect.Goals, both big and small, must be set. Victories, regardless of size, must be celebrated. Only then can true learning occur. If I am working with a college level Writing student, it is important to me that they gain the skills they need. Like all true teachers, my goal is to get you to be able to do it without me.The same is true if I am working with an elementary student on Math skills.
I have a Bachelors in Psychology, and am working on a Masters. Additionally, I have years of experience in instructional settings, both in grade school presentations and in extracurricular activities.
I have a Masters of Science in Finance and a Bachelors of Administration in Business Management and Accounting all from Sam Houston State University.I have taught and tutored students ranging from elementary to secondary and post secondary education. Having been a student I learned to appreciate the benefits that having a one on one tutor brings. As a result I love being able to pass my knowledge and experience on to others and providing the same personal attention that benefited me greatly. My favorite subjects to teach are English and anything that has to do with reading and reading comprehension. In addition, because of my educational background and job experience I enjoying subjects associated with accounting, finance and business including business writing.I prefer to read a book versus watch tv (P.D. James, John Grishom, Patricia Cornwell, Greg Iles). When tutoring I like to have fun. Sessions should be a good mix of seriousness to accomplish set goals as well as enjoyable to keep students interested and at ease.

I've been speaking German for 8 years now. Originally I took German over Spanish because my brother did and he spoke German to me to irritate me. I took German to understand him and be able to speak back. Now it's 8 years later and I'm working on a degree in Linguistics and speak German, Spanish and French.I originally was approached by my German professor in our first semester to tutor at my university, but was unable to at the time. I consistently try to explain German/French/Spanish concepts to my friends and they have gotten tired of it. In my German class, I help people with concepts they don't understand when they don't want to go to the tutor.

Hi! I'm a college instructor in Fort Worth, Texas. I hold a BA in English from the University of Texas at Arlington, where I minored in Medieval and Early Modern Studies; and I also hold an MA in History from Sam Houston State University. I specialize in late antiquity and medieval history, but am familiar with all areas. In addition to studying history, I also do genealogical research and am a fan of comic books and pop culture. It's my primary aim to give students the tools they need to eventually progress on their own and become effective scholars in their own right.
I went to college initially not knowing what I wanted to do with my life; I came out a horticulturalist. I worked at a vineyard, owned by a family who then opened up a winery, so I then became a winemaker. I had a blast and was successful, but about five years into my career I had to stop and reevaluate my life. Was this really what I wanted?I was about twenty-four when I decided I wanted to really figure out what I wanted. It was difficult. I had to do some real soul searching. At twenty-five, I quit my job as a winemaker and moved back to Houston, close to my family. I toyed with a few different ideas, but I finally figured out what I really want. I want to teach.Since then, I have been enrolled as an intern with the Texas Teachers of Tomorrow program, working toward obtaining my teaching certificate to teach high school math. I am currently working as a substitute teacher for the Conroe school district. My personal teaching philosophy is that all students have the desire to learn, and it is our jobs as educators to facilitate and inspire and guide our students to achieve their success. I believe that trust, patience, persistence, and consistency are so important for creating the proper learning environment, one in which the student is not afraid to take risks in his or her learning.Math has always been my favorite subject, and I am looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm for math with y'all.
I am a bilingual teacher looking to share my passion for teaching others a new language. I believe that to be bilingual is a benefit to increase your knowledge of other cultures, to travel and get better opportunities in your jobs.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring literature and the outdoors, which enriches my ability to connect with students on diverse topics.
Learning is a habit. I grew up hearing that daily and it gradually sunk in as I progressed in school. I always enjoyed figuring out how things worked and why things happened, as my curiosity knew no bounds. As I matured, I discovered how to channel this curiosity into more productive avenues by working in study groups, helping friends answer their own questions which were usually quite similar this mine, This helped develop my confidence in teaching others through college, summer camps and medical school. I love working with different age groups as they all bring unique learning opportunities. My degrees have given me the skills to cover a wide range of subjects in the sciences and medicine, and to value each person I come across. My aim is to give my students a personalised learning experience composed of great learning opportunities and experiences so they can stay engaged, motivated and prepared for not just their classes but for life in general. Mentoring students as they learn is also crucial to the mental aspect of their growth. I also ensure that clear, practical objectives are given so students can stay focused on tasks and are able to take responsibility for their own future. In addition to this, I use different learning styles visual, verbal, discussions and review sessions as students have different learning styles. Teaching really is a privilege.
I am a graduate student at Sam Houston State University pursuing MS in chemistry and going to graduate in May 2016. I am looking forward to join graduate program at UT Austin to obtain PhD in chemistry. I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant and Tutor at SHSU for various chemistry courses. I have always been passionate about chemistry and mathematics because of their direct relation with our everyday life, a need to think deeply for problem solving, and the presence of wide scope to always learn something new. I have been tutoring these courses to the school and college level students for about five years in one-onone and small group settings. I enjoy tutoring GRE quantitative as well. My tutoring strategy is to show a path to the students so that they can think through the problems and solve them by building confidence in themselves. I believe that the role of tutor is to guide, to motivate, to develop curiosity and to help students to understand concepts with a goal of watching them succeed. 'In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn' has been my all-time favorite quote.
I am currently a 4th year medical student in Texas. Prior to my medical education I earned a Bachelors in Journalism from UT Austin and a Masters in Public Health from UT Health Science Center in Houston. In between all the school, I have been tutoring in various subjects, mainly grade school math and English as well as the sciences in all levels. I worked as a manager at a non profit organization that had a focus on educational success for Houston's immigrant and refugee students.
