I studied civil engineering at Texas A&M University where I received my Bachelor of Science and Masters of Engineering. Before I left the university to work as a structural engineer in Houston, I tutored for the Texas A&M Athletics Department, helping their student athletes tackle their math and science classes. I consider myself an exception to the rule. Why? In high school, I played the flute and piccolo and marched during halftime while wearing my cheerleading uniform. At Texas A&M University, I studied mechanical engineering and worked as a resident assistant in a private dorm where I put on social events, including Calculus tutoring. I took tumbling twice for fun and I minored in mathematics because the idea of taking additional math classes made me excited. After college, I joined Teach For America and taught 6th grade science for three years because teaching students was more appealing to me than making money in engineering. Hi everyone! I will be attending Texas A&M University this fall as a sophomore, and working towards my Bachelor of Science in Biology on the pre-med track. In high school, I tutored children from the Chin community. As a tutor at that time, I helped the Chin children learn different methods of math models. Later in my junior year, I tutored a seventh grader in pre-algebra as part of the Math Buddies program in my school. I am most passionate about math, biology, and chemistry. I have knowledge in a broad field of areas and subjects and I am always excited to teach willing students. My philosophy is that there are no hard subjects. Any difficult concept can be broken down into easier, more digestible content, based on how well a tutor can understand their students. And that is what I believe I can help achieve with any student of mine of any age.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude (GPA 3.9) with Masters in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M. My Masters Dissertation (Thesis) was about "Boolean Network Modeling of Hypoxia Stress Response Pathway" and my research work "HYPOXIA STRESS RESPONSE PATHWAYS: MODELING AND TARGETED THERAPY " was published in IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics issued May 2017. Right from childhood, learning was my passion. I was a "straight A" student all through my school years and was the school topper in the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) with highest record marks in the 25 years history of my school. My friends used to approach me to learn for exams last minute and I had different techniques to help them memorize key concepts. I am a very fast learner and very hard working, a proud Sunday School teacher and a Bible Quiz coach. I graduated my Bachelors in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering with highest distinction and was the topper in the Electrical and Instrumentation department of my college. Learning makes me happy, I love to make "mnemonics" and shortcuts which helps me to memorize easily. I love to draw, so during my bachelors I volunteered to draw all figures in the white board for teachers to teach and did a lot of volunteering to teach in my engineering class. While doing my masters in Texas A&M, I did research in "Genotypic response of stress genes in non-transformed, benign, malignant and metastatic breast cancer cell lines to chemotherapeutic agents Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide" where I worked on 69 stress genes out of which 50 are Internal Ribosome Entry Site (IRES) genes. I worked as a software engineer in IT as a front engineer, backend engineer and then as a Full Stack developer for 5 years, so I am also interested in coding and analysis. So my knowledge in a variety of subjects in Engineering and Biology, and my strong passion for teaching made me think about tutoring to share my knowledge with kids as I love working with them. I am very patient, fun loving, empathetic, I always think in other's shoes, especially when it comes to kids. I am a proud mother of a 10 year old daughter and teaching her made me interested in Elementary school tutoring. It was fun to relearn with her what I learnt many years ago. When I told my dad that I got accepted in Varsity Tutors, he told me one thing and that resonated with my teaching philosophy. " Teach these kids as they are your own" and that has been my motto from day one. I have tutored many students until now, and each and every one holds a special place in my heart. I cry, laugh and play with them. Their weaknesses are mine, their strength is my strength, their success and failures are all mine. I love what I am doing, and each day I look forward to be a part of their learning process, help them inculcate the same passion I have for learning and never ever hate learning, but understand the potential of education and utilize it for a far better future. I always teach my kids to aim the stars so that they can at least reach the sky. I teach a wide variety of subjects because of my Engineering and Biology background, but still teaching elementary kids makes me happy because of their innocent love. I am proud to say that I have touched the lives of lot of kids one way or the other and all the 5 star ratings and messages from the parents are the greatest rewards I will ever cherish. Thank you Varsity for helping me reinstate my passion for teaching and learning and providing me an opportunity to teach these wonderful kids.

I'm a born and raised Austinite and recently earned my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University in May 2015. I mostly tutor high school/college math and science courses, as well as SAT/ACT and MCAT prep. My favorite classes to help students with are biology, physics, biochemistry and statistics! I took 14 AP classes in high school, and retook many of the math and sciences class in college. I think this helps with tutoring because I learned the material multiple times and from many great teachers, so if a student doesn't understand a concept at first, I can hopefully explain it in another way that I've learned.I like working with students that are self motivated and want to have a tutor, no matter their current skill level in a class. Having a great teacher or tutor won't help if the student does not want to learn and put in the work. However, I truly believe any student can not just succeed, but excel, if they work hard and have the right support system.Aside from tutoring, I love to cook and play Ultimate Frisbee. I also work as an emergency room medical scribe, and I am extremely excited to be attending medical school at UTMB in Galveston in August 2016!

I am currently a student at Texas A&M University. I will be graduating in Fall 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Throughout my years in high school and college, I have always helped tutor my classmates in various subjects. In high school, I took AP Spanish 5 and I would tutor my friends in reading proficiency and being able to answer questions after reading stories in Spanish. I am also currently tutoring a friend in college who wants to continue his experience with Spanish. I grew up learning both English and Spanish and I want to be able to share a part of my culture with others! I also want to say that there are different types of Spanish and I would be teaching Argentinian Spanish unless told otherwise. I also specialize in tutoring beginner to somewhat advanced Mathematics and beginner Electrical Engineering courses. I have taken a lot of difficult courses throughout my years at Texas A&M and I want to be able to take my knowledge and help others learn as well. My experience includes mainly one-on-one tutoring along with a few group sessions. My teaching philosophy focuses on creating a supportive, inclusive, and interactive learning environment. Learning a new language or even learning electrical engineering is hard, so I want to be able to adapt my ways of teaching depending on a student's learning style to achieve our collective goal of them understanding the material. Learning is also fun and I want to show my students that it truly is a great privilege to learn different things!
