I have 5+ years teaching English I-IV, including pre-AP. I understand that students need an environment that is conducive to enhancing their reading, writing, and annotating abilities. I love watching students expand their minds, and I enjoy being a part of that process. Everyone struggles, so it's good to know that you're the one who steps in and fosters a learning environment that will increase the intellectual aptitudes for students. They say when you're tired, you're mentally only 40% tired--you're stronger than you know.

I love teaching because I love being able to see students mature and grow. I love seeing the little light that brightens up when they finally understand something they were struggling with. It is my mission to ensure growth and future success in any subject that I tutor or teach
I graduated with a biology degree in 2023 from the University of Texas at Arlington. I have been tutoring since 2019 with students ranging from elementary school to 9th grade. I am passionate about meeting students where they're at and helping them to enjoy learning. I tutor a variety of subjects but I enjoy tutoring math the most because I find that my students have made immense progress in a subject they once found difficult.
I am an experienced elementary educator who enjoys bringing fun and excitement into every lesson that I teach. I am a great listener and love hearing students' ideas and interests that can blend seamlessly with what we are learning or practicing!
I am a professional teacher with 11 years of experience in Math & Science. I enjoy working with all levels of students.
I am a current high school Digital Filmmaking and Commercial Photography teacher with over a decade of teaching experience, including at the college level. I have a passion for working with students of all backgrounds, skill sets, and learning styles to reach their full potential. The overwhelming majority of the classes I teach are in visual communications such as digital filmmaking, and commercial photography, and graphic design.
I believe that knowledge is the foundation upon which everyone can stand. Pursuit of knowledge is the greatest duty we have. Understanding that, knowing the areas that we lack can bring us our greatest fortune, and therefore self reflection is a tool we must use. When I tutor I focus on the concepts and ideas that the student feels uncomfortable with, because that is where the most growth can occur. Practice makes us better, and guidance helps us grow.
I am a middle school choir teacher, professional classically-trained singer, volleyball enthusiast and referee, avid baker, and animal caretaker. I am passionate about singing, teaching, always learning, and helping young people realize their potential. I'm great at math, reading, and especially all things voice and music theory!
I am a veteran teacher with seven years of experience in grades K-5. I've had the pleasure of teaching in both South Carolina and Georgia, with vast experience in literacy and math intervention, as well as Talented and Gifted differentiation. For the past two years I have served as a primary interventionist for a group of students in my reading and math classes; I also supplemented students in Fulton County's virtual 6th grade math program through small group instruction on 6th grade math standards.I am a graduate of Roanoke College with a major in History and a minor in Elementary Education. I hold a graduate degree in Education Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and an endorsement in Talented and Gifted Education from the University of South Carolina. I recently won the Teacher of the Year award at my school, and I am certified in both Project Based Learning and STEM Education. An avid reader myself, I have a deep passion for teaching students how to read, and how to improve their reading comprehension. I also love teaching math, and have a deep understanding of how skills "spiral" in both the Common Core and Georgia math standards. With the advent of virtual teaching and learning this year, I spent the last quarter of the school year teaching online, so I am well-versed in a multitude of virtual resources and learning platforms.I believe learning should be fun and have honed my ability to integrate all subjects into learning "experiences," which are engaging and challenging for students. All of my students are taught the growth mindset, and through a series of small goals we work together to tackle even the hardest of subjects.
I am receiving my BS in University Studies with a concentration in Computer Science in December 2022. During my time in college I was most interested in mathematics (even though I struggled with it the most) and I learned that with a little help anyone can excel in math. Along with my love of math I also enjoy Python, CAD, helping anyone appreciate growing their knowledge in all aspects of education. In my spare time I enjoy reading, working out, and of course relaxing with my cat, Kitty.
I am passionate about helping students succeed and excel in their studies. While getting my undergrad in English from the University of Texas at Arlington I was a writing tutor for college students, many of whom were foreign students still new to the language. I loved helping all of my students succeed in their classes, become better writers, and helping improve their confidence. My philosophy for tutoring is that I believe my sessions should be client led; that is, the client calls the shots and I am an impartial reviewer. I will ask what the student wants to focus on in the session and we will collaborate on mutually agreeable changes to the document. I won't overstep my place as a tutor- this is their essay, sometimes personal in nature, and I will be fair and nice!
I have taught students in a classroom setting for 5 years and in corporate settings for more than 25 years.I thoroughly enjoy interaction with students at all levels and watching them find their own path to subject mastery through skillful mentoring.

From October 2009 through August 2014, I worked as a tutor (20+ hours per week) with a highly respected tutoring company. I tutored students of all ages in the areas of reading, writing, and math. I also prepared students for the SAT and ISEE. In September 2013, I started my own business doing private tutoring. I have continued to work with students of all ages in the areas of reading, writing, and math, and I have continued to prepare students for the SAT and ISEE. In general, about half of my students are doing test preparation and half are getting some kind of help with school. At the tutoring center where I worked, we had a number of students who were being tutored in order to become very advanced in their studies at school and to gain admission to highly selective colleges by getting top-notch scores on their SAT. We also had students who were struggling to do well in their classes and therefore needed help with their homework and with understanding the material they were learning in school. I worked successfully with both kinds of students. My approach to tutoring is definitely gentle, but also firm in terms of expecting my students to work hard during the tutoring sessions and to work diligently on any homework I might assign. I am sensitive to the learning styles of my students and do everything I can to communicate in a way that makes sense to them. I often make use of visuals and manipulatives in teaching various concepts. My goal is to enable students to really understand the material they are studying. I am happy to use whatever school or other materials that parents and/or students would like. I am also prepared to suggest additional materials that might be helpful for a particular student in a specific subject area. I am familiar with a number of very helpful resources. Before working at the tutoring center, I was actively involved in the homeschooling community. I homeschooled my older two children through high school and my younger two children through 8th grade. I also taught enrichment classes in the areas of math, science, music, and art to students of all ages in a homeschool co-op, for a total of eight years.
My academic credentials include a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Aeronautical Engineering from Stanford University. I am retired from 40+ years of engineering. The last thirty years was working in the flight simulation industry. I had responsibility for doing mathematical modeling of many systems which kept my my math and science skills well exercised. The flight simulation experience also involved frequent use of computer languages such as Ada, C, C++ and less frequent use of other computer languages such as python and java. Tutoring was part of the engineering environment as new engineers were assigned to my group. I earned extra money during my college years tutoring. Though money is not the end objective since retirement, I enjoy tutoring to remain active and challenged. The interaction with students is invigorating. Tutoring gives me a sense of contributing to the well-being of others. It is offering up my skills to help others get a strong start on a career. My tutoring style is to explain principles and possibly do a sample problem, but then observe the student apply the principles to work a problem, gently nudging them in the right direction. I prefer to tutor math and physics, but will not shy away from computer languages and other science applications.
I am an educator who believes in student-centered learning.I got my start teaching when I tutored students at a University Writing Center as I was earning my M.A. in English Rhetoric. I enjoy being part of a process that engages students in the subjects they love, and teaching them to love subjects they haven't learned to find appreciation for quite yet.I currently teach language classes for a well-known company as well.

As far as I can remember, I've been the go-to guy when you wanted help with a subject, whether it was advanced mathematical concepts during my Bachelors Degree days, or software engineering principals in my Masters degree program. It was for this reason that I was specifically picked out by one of my professors to be his teaching assistant for two semesters of classes before I graduated. So confident was he in my skills that he was able to go around the requirement that TA-ships be only handed out to Phd level students. After graduating with a Master's Degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Texas at Arlington, I've been involved in a number of software development jobs including my current one in a Fortune 100 company. I can can back up my academic knowledge with extensive industry experience. However I haven't lost touch with teaching as I'm still called upon by friends for consultation about software engineering and design concepts.I'm computer enthusiast enjoys tinkering with hardware and software in my spare time and am pretty confident in my computer science teaching abilities. And since math goes hand in hand with computers, I'm well versed in math subjects as well.
