Hi There!Recent Harvard Graduate School of Education alumni and Child Development Specialist looking to make the world of learning a little easier and lot more fun for students of all ages. I am an avid reader and love to enhance the lives of students of all abilities through the power of literacy. As a lifelong learner and avid believer in empowering students with strategies and insight into different ways of learning things that they can truly master and incorporate them into their daily lives. I have tutored a wide array of subjects and ages ranging from 4 to 28. In addition to 4 years as a literacy specialist/tutor, I have specialized in standardized test preparation and working with students with mild-severe learning and/or social emotional disabilities.

I graduated from Tufts University in 2012 with degrees in Italian Studies, History, and Communications, and I continue to utilize all three fields. Writing my thesis on the continuity of fascism in Italian film, I earned my Master's degree in Modern European Studies from Columbia University in 2014, and, still proudly calling New York my home, I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Italian Studies at Columbia.I have been tutoring and teaching students of all ages (from grades 4 and 5 to the university level) for almost a decade, but I now especially focus on foreign languages -- Spanish and Italian chiefly among them -- and test prep. I believe that I am a great fit for most students, since I realize that there several types of learning; I try to design each lesson that meets both the students' needs and outside interests.My own outside interests include cooking, traveling (20 countries & counting!), photography, reading, and, of course, watching the New York Jets on Game Day!

In high school, standardized tests did not come naturally to me. With an A average in all AP and honors classes and an overflowing list of extracurricular activities, it frustrated me that something like one test score could affect my college admissions. But like most challenges in my life, I viewed it as motivation. I took a course, got private math tutoring, took practice tests, and came up with essay prompts. Ultimately, I got a very strong score, ranking me in the 96th percentile. I have since graduated cum laude from Tufts University with a BA in English and minors in Art History and Media Studies.As a member of the National Honor Society and Peer Leaders, I decided to use my experience to help others. I knew there had to be other students out there who were extremely bright and simply didn't excel at standardized tests. I began tutoring for the SAT, specializing in the verbal and writing sections. It was an incredible feeling to coach students through this test and watch their scores climb. I later had that same satisfaction on a personal level when I tutored my younger brother throughout his SAT preparation. He is now finishing his freshman year at his top choice university and he could not be happier. In addition to private SAT instruction, I tutored English and History throughout middle school and high school, as well as test prep including ISEE, SHSAT, SSAT, and TACHS.I think my own struggle and ultimate success makes me a stronger tutor than if it had been easy for me from the start. I understand the roadblocks that come up in certain students' heads. I graduated from Tufts University with a double major in Mathematics and Psychology. Subsequently I earned Masters degrees in Education ( Stanford), Accounting/MBA ( Northeastern) and Finance ( George Washington). I earned my Credential to teach Mathematics and Psychology in California, and taught high school in San Jose. I also taught Math at Tabor Academy and at Avery Coonley School. I left teaching full time and now work for the US Government working on accounting and Finance Systems. I am an expert skier and teach skiing during the winter months. I missed teaching so I currently tutor students in all levels of Math and love it! Born in Chicago, educated in Boston, and living in New York City, my heart belongs to Paris. I majored in French Literature and cross-cultural visual arts, and spent my junior year abroad in the City of Lights. I lived with a host family, attended La Sorbonne and wrote for a French fashion publication. It was an entirely immersive experience, and I got to the point where I was not only fluent, but thinking and dreaming in French. The ultimate goal for any Francophile, and one that continues to this day.I am a cultural sponge and an aesthete to the core, and have travelled to 25 different countries. I'm a student at Tufts University majoring in Biomedical Engineering with an intended minor in English. I've been tutoring throughout high school and college in a variety of core STEM and humanities courses, working in both a paid and volunteer capacity. I studied International Relations, Arabic, and Economics at Tufts University before deciding to pursue a career in medicine. While completing my post-bacc at Harvard, I worked as a research assistant in the lab of the Chief of Nephrology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and volunteered extensively. One of my favorite volunteer experiences was tutoring high school students from Dorchester and Roxbury. I taught my students English, Physics, Chemistry, Algebra, Trigonometry, Biology, and helped them with standardized test preparation. My personal tutoring style is to use a combination of relatable metaphors and real life examples to help my students genuinely understand whatever material we are covering. I'm a current PhD student at Tufts University studying Applied Math, and formerly I attained my Bachelor of Science in Math at Pepperdine University. I am an Electrical Design Engineer in Walpole Massachusetts working on embedded system development. I am a rising junior at Tufts University, where I am receiving a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics and an MS in Computer Science. I have worked for my local elementary school, created bootcamps for students with classmates, and took on many students in my own time. As such, I have worked as a tutor in both private and group settings for students from all walks of life, whether it be editing college essays or navigating common core math with third-grade students. However, I do have a preference for teaching students privately, as I believe everyone learns in a different manner and different pace. As a result, I am always adapting the way I explain concepts to play to the student's strengths and contextualize the information in a way that is easily understood by them. Hello! A little about myself - I am from Tulsa, OK and came to Boston for college. I studied Biomedical Engineering at both Boston University during undergrad and Tufts University for my masters. After much thought, I deviated from a medical school track to pursue a career in the medical device industry. My love for math and science started around middle school, and I was strongly influenced by my teachers. Through tutoring, I hope to be a similar influence. I'm a first-year med student at Pitt Med. I graduated from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts with a BS in Biology this past May. As much as I love medicine and the hard sciences, most of my tutoring experience is in general ACT prep, in addition to academic and creative writing, middle school math and reading, and high school and college math. Some of my favorite all-time classes were medical sociology in college and AP US Government and Politics in high school. Through Tufts, I taught English as a second language (3 semesters) and citizenship exam prep (1 semester) to Hispanic immigrants and refugees, which taught me a lot about how to gauge students' understanding, teach tough subjects, plan activities, provide flashcards and the best possible study materials, and make the most of the students' time. I love tutoring because I know how much a tutor's patience one-on-one can make the difference. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in both Child Development and French from Tufts University. During my time at Tufts, I also taught in Boston-area preschools, supporting early literacy, numeracy, and social skill development through the Jumpstart program. After graduating, I stayed in Boston and tutored 9th-12th graders in a wide range of subjects while earning my teaching license. After that, I taught 3rd and 4th grade where my students earned best in state scores on their end of year state test. In fact, my students in my final year of teaching were ranked #1 and #2 in the state of Massachusetts on their Math and ELA state tests, respectively.
