As a teacher, my mission has always been to make scientific knowledge accessible to ALL students, and help them see why it's worth the effort to pursue. I've been a high school physics teacher for the past 15 years, and also a strong advocate for equity in science education. I received my undergraduate degree in Physics from Amherst College, and later a masters degree in Science and Math Education from UC Berkeley. While I've always had an interest in science, I've come to see myself as someone who teaches *people* rather than *science*. That is, I really enjoy helping students become more confident & independent learners, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. I feel honored to be a part of any students' growth. :)

I am currently a student at the University of California at Berkeley. I have worked children of all ages, from kindergarten to high school. During my senior year in high school, I tutored fellow students in SAT and ACT prep, as well as various math and science courses. I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects, but my favorites are math and English. I enjoy getting to know each student and design my curriculums based on each student???s needs. In my spare time, I play the piano, violin, and guitar.

Besides my passion for medicine and health, I have always loved teaching. I spent one year as an Undergraduate Student Instructor at UC Berkeley where I helped run a lab section for a general biology course. I also spent one year as an individual tutor for biology and general chemistry. One of my most fulfilling experiences as a tutor was working with several special needs students in the biological sciences; that experience really helped broaden my horizons as an educator.The summer after I graduated I was given the privilege of leading a study group for general biology. Students who needed a little bit of extra help for that course could always come to my study group to bolster their knowledge. My extensive experience tutoring and teaching my peers has taught me to approach problems from many different angles, allowing me to help students with very different backgrounds and learning styles.My background in biology is very extensive, but I am also very capable in other fields. At UC Berkeley I excelled in the pre-medical courses: biology, physics, chemistry, and math. I apply different teaching styles for different students, and I've found that adaptability is one of greatest skills a tutor can have. I always try to make a course as fun as possible for a student because I know all too well how stressful academics can be.

I earned a master's degree in physics at UC Berkeley and two bachelor's degrees in physics and mathematics at Penn State. I taught university physics courses and community college mathematics courses. I have tutored both physics and mathematics for the last three decades. And I enjoy the heck out of teaching. I believe that general problem-solving skills are more valuable than content knowledge. To develop good physical intuition and problem-solving skills, one needs to practice regularly, just like learning a language. There is no shortcut. Learning activities are based on experience, which involves making errors and reflecting on them. Whether I teach a class or tutor a student individually, I always stress that every problem-solving step has a rationale. If the student makes a mistake, but can justify their approach, then we can fix both the mistake and the logic, and the student will benefit from their error. However, if the student makes a mistake, but cannot articulate their thought process, they will not learn anything.

I received a BA in English from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2008 and an MA in English from Brown University in 2011. I love to read, and I love to study language because words offer so much potential for emotional depth, vivid imagery, tonal complexity, humor, subtlety, irony and even playfulness. I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature. My focus was English and Russian Language and Literature. In Hong Kong I became familiar with the SSAT, and tutored several students of different levels. I graduated from Edina High School, MN and am currently studying data science at UC Berkeley. I also attended Minneapolis Japanese School from 2004-2019 and was raised in a bilingual household. This taught me to speak, read and write Japanese, and I would be happy to tutor students in this language! I studied math on a double-accelerated track throughout middle school and high school, covering math from algebra to multivariable calculus. I graduated with honors from UC Berkeley's English program. While in college, I worked as a tutor, designing lesson plans and teaching accelerated classes for elementary to high schoolers within a day-time tutoring program. This included standardized test prep as well. My biggest priority as a tutor is helping you find the confidence and belief in your own ability. This, I've found, has the biggest impact on a student's performance.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley where I focused on ecology and evolutionary biology. As an undergraduate, I had the chance to serve in two teaching positions on campus. In the first course, I assisted graduate students and professors to guide a class through core level biology. The second was a hands-on affair, in which I led students through the preparation of animal specimens for preservation in a museum. Through my experiences, I have discovered that the best way to learn and teach a subject is to tackle it with a variety of approaches. For example, students intimidated by the technical jargon of math often find problems easier to understand when symbols are replaced with words. Through such strategies, I aim to make dense material more communicable and relatable and to provide students with the confidence to accept new challenges. I am most excited to discuss ecology, evolution, and math, but I am also able to tutor subjects such as physics, writing, and standardized testing. Hello All,I am a San Francisco Bay Area native recently transplanted to the White Plains area to study the Biomedical Sciences! I have tutored students K-12 continuously since middle school, and I specialize in tutoring Math. I have helped failing students not only get passing marks but even top marks, helped B students to A's, and help A students get A+'s. I focus on helping students master their fundamentals, as well as teach the tips and tricks they need to conquer any question.

I first began tutoring when I was in high school. There was just something about helping others learn difficult concepts that really appealed to me. I thought I might have wanted to become a teacher of some sort and went into UC Berkeley with these intentions.Since then, I fell in love with science and research and decided that I would go to medical school. As a doctor, I will be able to continue my passion for teaching while helping others in their most vulnerable states. I am starting medical school this fall at the University of California, Davis and am excited to begin my life long journey of not only treating others, but teaching my peers.

I am a native of New York City and has been teaching since 2003. I have taught middle and high school (both public and private), as well as at the college level. I have a BA in English from UC Berkeley, an MA in Secondary Education from CUNY Brooklyn College, an MPhil in Anglo Irish Literature from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in English from St. John's University. In my free time I enjoy CrossFit, writing fiction, meditation, eating pizza and exploring New York City.

With an MBA, a Masters certificate from UCLA, and a BA in Applied Math from UC Berkeley, you would be correct in guessing I enjoy numbers, analysis and the hard sciences. I think I've enjoyed learning how to connect those to the softer skills, applying new ways to make teaching or convincing in these fields easier for others, whether students or business professionals. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Statistics, Calculus, Chemistry & Physics, along with investments/economics. I have greatly enjoyed working with all sorts of students, from students struggling to prepare for standardized tests to the bogged down, overworked no-time-left for the quiz tomorrow as well as the hyper-excelling, curious about advancing overachievers -- there really is something to learn at all times, and that isn't for the student to learn from the teacher, but also the reverse. I believe in making any topic, as necessary or obligatory as it may be, connected enough to something else that you may more likely come across in your day-to-day life. Or demonstrate an importance to simply be curious and how enriching learning can be. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (mostly historical fiction/business, but fiction has made its way to the Kindle of late), playing with our samoyed dog, and when the sun's out, a bit of golf. I am a fourth year undergraduate student at UC Berkeley currently studying molecular and environmental biology with an emphasis on human health and the environment. I am interested in either going into medicine or working within an environmental, scientific, or healthcare related field. I enjoy teaching and learning new things and helping others better understand academic subjects.

I am about to complete a M.A. in Physics at UC Berkeley, after receiving my B.S. from MIT with a double major in literature and particle physics. I love to learn, but I also love to teach, and have been serving as a tutor or teacher in some capacity since high school. I'm a veteran of the AP system and of the SAT, and a more recent veteran of the GRE, so I know what's tough about these tests and how to conquer them. My tutoring philosophy is centered around teaching the core concepts of a subject, so students have a good sense of where strategies come from and how to apply them. Ultimately I think most math, science and humanities is extremely interesting if you can build confidence and fundamental understanding, and I hope to share my enthusiasm with my students!
