You never forget a great teacher. I've had some so good that I remember their lessons from a decade ago. It's my goal to have that effect on the students I tutor. I graduated from the University of New Haven with a dual BS in premedical biology and forensic biology with a minor in chemistry. While I was there, I worked as a teaching assistant for the chemistry department; I prepared solutions and answered an ocean of questions about laboratory technique and chemistry in general. I love math and science in general, but my favorite subjects to teach out of the whole bunch are biology (middle school through MCAT biology and college microbiology) and physics. Math and science are among the most daunting subjects for many students, but they're the most intuitive subjects at their core. Using a show-don't-tell approach to tutoring, I guide my students and give them the tools they need to discover first-hand the intuitiveness of these subjects. My hobbies include reading, slacklining (do a quick Google search, it's pretty awesome), bicycling, running, playing video games, and powerhousing entire tv series on Netflix.

I am a graduate of University of New Haven. I received my Bachelor degree in Political Science with a focus on history. Since graduation, worked in government in economic development which caused a love for finance. I have studied for the SIE and passed it and helped other people pass the SIE. I am most passionate about History. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, yoga, golf, and working out.
As a certified 7-12 English instructor, I have a plethora of experiences which qualify me to tutor/teach students. As an intern, I voluntarily substituted for junior and senior classes for six weeks. I student taught five sophomore classes for thirteen weeks. I also was a long term substitute for three months teaching five classes of juniors. Currently, I am a sixth grade language arts long term substitute, a different world from high school, but nonetheless rewarding. In addition to my classroom experiences, I also taught GED English prep for a year, and am currently the after school site coordinator for an elementary school. Together, I have varied experiences working with students grades K-12, and am dedicated to offering the exceptional learning opportunities all students deserve.I believe that no student is unteachable with the right teacher. Thankfully, I am used to wearing many hats, and I work hard to be the “right teacher” for every student I encounter.
I pursued, what many would consider, a very non-traditional path following graduation from a high school for gifted students. My initial training was received while on active duty with the US Navy. There I learned to operate, maintain, and repair advanced electronic systems such as radio, radar, computers and cryptographic machines. Later during this period of my life, I went to school to learn Nuclear Power Plant Operation for nuclear submarines. While serving aboard various submarines, I took college courses through the University of Hawaii and the University of California. I also spent a great deal of time reading literary classics, as well as books on history, science, music and art. This reading allowed me to successfully complete the entire CLEP examination with scores in the top 10%.Following my discharge, I earned licenses and certifications from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as both an Operator and Senior Operator on several different types of nuclear units. Based on my previous work, training and college classes, I was awarded a Baccalaureate in Nuclear Engineering Technology in 1988 from Charter Oak College. l also attended college classes at the University of New Haven during this time, earning a Baccalaureate in Electrical Engineering in 1989 with a minor in Mathematics. I also have taken advanced graduate course in Business Administration and Regulatory Law as well as having successfully completed the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT exams.Starting in 1981, I provided training to selected individuals to prepare them for their Nuclear Regulatory Operator Examination. In this position, I delivered classroom and individualized instruction on math, physics, chemistry, thermodynamics, fluid flow and other technical areas related to nuclear power plant design, operation and control.I am currently tutoring in algebra, science, and math, which are my favorite subjects to tutor. I firmly believe that with guidance and a desire, every individual has the ability to overcome any hurdle they face.I enjoy working on home renovations, having won an award for the restoration of an 1840's Victorian. I also enjoy bicycling, snorkeling, scuba diving, and photography. But most of all, I enjoy spending time with family and friends over good food and wine in pleasant surroundings.
After 14 years of teaching in public and private schools all over the world, I decided to take time off to volunteer, travel and teach yoga. What I have found during that time, is I feel much more validated and useful to students one on one. I have taught a variety of subjects including IBTOK, Theater Arts, Print Media Design, Journalism, IB Language and Literature in addition to high school and college level English/Language Arts classes
I decided to pursue tutoring to help spread my love and understanding of science, specifically chemistry. I have had experience tutoring at the high school and undergraduate level in chemistry and math. I hope to continue strengthening my tutoring skills and help you succeed in your studies. I'm best able to help my students when they share lecture slides or practice problems they're struggling with.

My teaching career spans more than 20 years. I have taught middle school, high school, junior college and adults.I love science! I grew up on a small farm. Learning about animals and plants was a daily experience; one that I continue today.I believe learning is much about experience so I try my best to ensure my students "do" as much as possible.
I am a student at the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science and Criminal Justice. I have a strong background in math and science. I have taken and mastered up to Calculus 2, as well as multiple upper level biology and chemistry courses at the university level.
I am a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle PA where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. After that, I immediately obtained my MBA in International Business from the University of New Haven. While completing my final trimester of graduate school, I began teaching part-time as an adjunct lecturer in Spanish at the University of New Haven and taught one or two courses a semester until May 2014. I believe every student is different and that their learning path is personal. I work hard to make sure that my students are getting the most out of the tutoring sessions by ensuring the practice and learning sessions are meeting the style of learning best embraced by the student. I spend my days doing my favorite things in the world: educating and learning from creative, inquisitive kids. I currently create mathematics curriculum for several local school districts, teach pre-kindergarten physical education classes, and run a cooperative education program in the Naugatuck Valley of Connecticut. My current goal is to step back into the classroom and teach in an elementary school.Over the years I have worked in a variety of areas in the field of education. I have worked in many different settings with children of all ages, abilities, interests and backgrounds. My journey started while I was interning in the Hamden Police Department, in an effort to engage the community into the workings of the police department, the detective I was working under and I created a citizens academy to teach community members about law, and the police department. While teaching classes at our newly established, my intern supervisor insisted I should look into teaching, and pointed me in the direction of an alternative education program that would merge my interest in the field of law and all things legal and my talents within the classroom atmosphere. While still in my undergraduate college, I gained employment as a Behavioral Interventionist for the Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) Alternative school. I have learned through this experience how to interact and connect with challenging students, how to engage in conversation with them and how to work on their language skills from a beginner to intermediate level. I so enjoyed engaging these challenged students that I solidified my decision to enroll in the graduate of education program at the University of New Haven.
I am a seasoned Math Teacher with 25+ years experience teaching a wide range of students from elementary, middle school, and high school to college level students. I enjoy helping to make a difference in the understanding of mathematical concepts by making it challenging as well as having fun learning.
I've been tutoring the bar since last October. During the bar season I treat it as a full time job and work regularly in the season with students on MBE strategy, MEE strategy, and the substantive topics that come along with it. I also tutor students in law school. A lot of my experience with the bar exam subjects really supplement my ability to effectively tutor students in wide range of substantive areas. I believe that success on the bar comes 50% from good substantive background but also 50% in the strategies you employ. The bar is hard, and of course is not an exam we will score close to perfect. With the MBE I'm knowledgeable on the substantive issues but I try to use that to help you effectively strategize. Often times the right answer can be unclear but using your substantive knowledge can help you effectively eliminate bad answers to really increase your odds and enhance your scores. With the MEE general knowledge of substantive issues is obviously important, but it's crucial to analyze in your writing the way the test grader wants it. And it's SO important to understand it's all about what they want. So, I focus on structuring your essays in a way that you're hitting all the points and minimizing the risk that you miss subtle issues. I also try to help you understand and handle what they mean by the most annoying thing everyone says about the MEE which is "if you don't know the rule just make one up." I think there's a way to handle that, and often a general background in a substantive area can help you get a solid answer. I got a 303 on the bar, with the strongest part of my exam being the essay portion. And that was despite writing one essay I completely made up, and another where my conclusion was wrong, but I nonetheless analyzed all arguments/counter arguments to get a lot of points. They care less about your conclusions, but the way you analyze and address arguments, and utilize your facts. This is all and oversimplification of what I'll help you with. I look forward to meeting with you if you move forward with me as your tutor!

I have loved working with others since I was a little girl. My youthful energy, creative assignments and love for helping others makes me a fantastic choice for your tutor.I currently teach 5th grade and can't get enough of it! I am certified to teach kindergarten through 6th grade and have many credits in mathematics and special education. I attended Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY for my bachelors degree and then continued to the University of New Haven to earn my Masters in Education. Not only am I confident with content knowledge, but I am also proud of the rapport I have with students and my ability to help those that are struggling succeed. I love to see students that hated reading learn to love it. Additionally, I work hard to make those that find math difficult see the problems in a new way so that they do not feel overwhelmed. I enjoy music, hanging out with family and friends, cooking and being active. I look forward to working together to build a relationship that fosters a love for learning.
I'm a Sathyabama University alum. Programming and Full Stack were the main areas of emphasis in my Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science. Since graduating, I've built a lot of online courses, coaching students from all over the globe through a no-fee program, helping adults who want to advance their computer skills (I'm a certified developer and teacher), and working with customers from across the world. I instruct a variety of disciplines, but Full Stack Web Development is my area of greatest interest. I've worked with difficult kids to help them prepare for standardized tests, and we always seem to make the greatest progress (and have the most fun) working on the Critical Reading and Coding sections of the tests. I strongly believe that education is essential for a higher quality of life, and I work hard to instill this belief in all of my pupils. In my free time, I like to read books that add value to my life and practice yoga, run, and create projects.
I'm a Data Science graduate from the University of New Haven with a strong passion for teaching and simplifying complex concepts. My background combines real-world experience in data analysis, AI workflows, and software development, which allows me to bring practical, industry-relevant knowledge into every session. I specialize in teaching Data Science, SQL, Python, and AI-assisted coding. My approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts rather than just memorizing solutions. I guide students through breaking down problems, thinking step-by-step, and building confidence in applying what they learn to real scenarios. I have experience working on AI and data projects involving data annotation, machine learning, and building applications using modern tools. This helps me teach not just theory, but also how these concepts are used in real jobs today. As a tutor, I adapt to each student's learning style. Whether you are a beginner starting from scratch or someone looking to strengthen advanced concepts, I create a structured and supportive learning environment. I focus on clarity, patience, and making learning interactive so students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas.

I am a senior at the University of New Haven working on a B.S. in Forensic Science-Biology with a Pre-Medical designation who hopes to go to medical school in the future. I am most passionate about biology and chemistry but have a strong personal interest in history, especially topics overlooked in the past study of history. To me, learning is a life long process and leads to the development of a well-rounded individual. Seeing understanding of a difficult topic and creating enthusiasm for learning is what draws me to tutoring.
My personal statement is simple. I believe that every person can be successful so long as they are afforded the ability to learn in a way that makes sense to them, and I believe that every person should be treated like a person. I have found a love of teaching and of literature through teachers who have given me sage advice and treated me like a human. They met me where I needed them to meet me in order for me to succeed and they did not make me feel different or negatively for that. These adults were my inspiration and I feel as though this attitude should be shared throughout all aspects of life.

No matter what the circumstances, though, I am able to develop a rapport with the student, which allows them to feel comfortable working with me as their tutor.I tutor a wide variety of subjects, but enjoy tutoring English writing and grammar the most. I love to read, so I want my students to feel as passionate about reading as I do. I also have a background in languages, which allows me to tutor foreign languages. I have traveled many places and been around many cultures so I feel this has made me a stronger teacher.
