With a Bachelor's of Accounting and a Master's of Business Administration, I possess a strong foundation in academic subjects. My experience homeschooling five students across three grade levels using the Texas Virtual Academy curriculum demonstrates my ability to adapt to different learning styles and provide comprehensive instruction. Having taught, coached, and trained children and adults for over two decades, I have honed my skills in effective communication, motivation, and creating engaging learning environments. While I am capable of teaching all elementary school subjects, I have a particular passion for math and literature and enjoy making these subjects enjoyable for students. My diverse background and proven track record make me a highly qualified tutor. I am confident in my ability to help students achieve their academic goals and develop a love for learning.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree at Ohio University, where I majored in Business and Interpersonal Communications. I then went out into the business world for a decade before earning my Master's Degree at the University of Phoenix here in Dallas.I have tutored students as young as 4-5th grade, and college students too, but my main concentrations have been with grades 7-12. I worked with 36 high school seniors who could not pass the TAKS Tests a few years back, and was able to get 35 of the students passing grades, which allowed them to graduate. I have also helped 8th graders who needed to take assessment tests to enter high school early pass the tests and successfully move up a grade. It is a wonderful experience to help students learn, and many of those whom I work with are really smart but just ned a little guidance, confidence, or an understanding at how to look at a problem a little differently. My main subject areas have been English, Writing, Public Speaking, Math, Science, United States History and Geometry. I also tutor standardized test taking. One of my strengths as a tutor is to take difficult subjects or concepts and make them easier to understand. I am completely dedicated to helping students get better. I like for teaching and learning to be fun, because students learn more if they are enjoying what they are being taught. My outside interests are enjoying time with my family, traveling, sports, and working out. In addition, I work with a non-profit organization that helps children, and we offer them sports and entertainment programs as a way to give them positive activities to do and goals to achieve.I look forward to working with you and helping you learn more and improve in your areas of academic interest.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Arts from Notre Dame de Namur University in Northern California. I recently received my Master's Degree in Adult Education and Training from the University of Phoenix.Currently, I am teaching English to Chinese students. I am a seasoned professional with teaching experience in excess of 30 years.I am a proponent of active learning and use a variety of methods to encourage discussion and interaction. One method I use that I have found to be particularly effective is to teach students material or provide examples that are relevant to their everyday lives. My commitment is to the students and their learning. Tutoring should be presented in such a way as to clearly define objectives and expectations from the very beginningI believe students learn most effectively when they are self-directed in their learning. Students want to participate in what and how they are learning. I often take suggestions regarding their interests and how they learn best. I make a conscious effort to know my students by name and have an idea of who they are and where they come from.I strive to provide a positive working and learning environment for students. I have found that making a course memorable, fun, and unique is what makes students respond enthusiastically.Regardless of their backgrounds, socio-economic situation, level of ability, or otherwise, students are treated respectfully. All students can achieve; it is my responsibility to assure them of my full attention. While music is my first love, I have traveled to all 7 continents and enjoy binge watching great television shows. Toy collecting is another hobby of mine, and I can't get enough of the Munsters television show from the 1960s.

When I am tutoring/helping students I build on the skills they have and fill in the skills they need to get to the next level. I know that every student is able to learn, it is up to me to find a way that helps them.It is important to me to build a relationship with my students and their families.
