Hola a todos! My name is Alexandra and I am from the lovely state of Ohio (yes, we have more than just corn...). I graduated from Waynesburg University in May of 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science. I also have two minors in Spanish and Sociology. The reason I am a tutor is because I am extremely passionate about learning. I take Sarah Caldwell's words of wisdom to heart, "Learn everything you can, from anyone you can, at any time you can- there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did." Every moment and interaction we encounter is an opportunity to learn. Holding this attitude, I believe, makes us better individuals and allows us to fully enjoy life. And one way to do this is through tutoring! With tutoring, I have over ten years of experience with middle school math (fractions, decimals, algebra, expressions, order of operations, etc.). I have over four years of experience helping with high school through university math, primarily focusing on trigonometry and pre-calculus. Aside from math, I have experience with a variety of history and philosophy courses, as well as English/the writing process and Spanish. So, whatever you need help with, I'd love to help!

I have worked with FedEx for over 20 years in both field operations management and corporate project management leadership. I currently hold credentials as a Project Managment Professional (PMP), Certified SAFe 6 Lean Portfolio Manager, and Certified SAFe 6 Agilist. I am also certified in Quality Management from ASQ and FedEx. I specialize in public speaking, project/program management, and assisting individuals in passing their PMP exam.
I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Waynesburg University. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education nK-6 with a minor in Children's Literature. I earned a Special Education certificate from Waynesburg University. I am also certified to teach Middle School Science, Social Studies and English.I have over 20 years of teaching experience focusing in grades 3-8. I have instructed students in Reading, English, Science and Social Studies. I have tutored students in China as an ESL instructor as well as tutored graduate students the study/test taking skills needed to excel on their standardized tests. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) prepping for the Critical Reading and Writing portions of the exams. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Reading and English, Literature, and Science. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, exercise, bicycle riding, music and arts and crafts.
I have been teaching for eleven years at a small middle school in western PA. Ten of those years have been spent as an 8th grade language arts teacher. I love what I do because I love working with young adults and exposing them to different texts. I find that I work well with this age group and am able to relate to them.The cornerstone of my teaching philosophy is that once students know you care about them and their success, they will put forth extra effort to do well in your class.
