I began my tutoring career as a chemistry teaching assistant while obtaining my undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Augusta University. During my time as an undergrad, I focused intently on organic chemistry with an emphasis on pharmacology. It was during this time that I also conducted research in medicinal chemistry at Georgia State University. After completing my undergraduate coursework, I moved to Hawaii to study acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. While I was working on my master's degree I worked as an instructor for pharmacy technicians and medical assistants at Heald College and Hawaii Medical College.Working as an instructor while attending classes taught me how valuable a student's time is and showed me how difficult balancing work, school, and family can be. I feel that this experience has helped me to connect with my students by showing me how to identify and remove learning barriers to ensure success.Currently, I am residing in Arizona in the next phase of my academic journey. Looking back, I never would have thought that my path would have taken the course that it has but the goal has always been the same medical school. Now with my academic finish-line in sight, I am here to help students achieve their goals, realize their true potential, and overcome their fears. My time as an instructor has helped me to demystify the learning process and as a life-long learner I have picked up more than a few tricks along the way.Whenever possible I try to break down lessons into their core concepts to form a strong foundation for future progress utilizing repetition, mnemonics, and productive study habits. I want to give my students the tools they need to succeed so that they can find their way and achieve their best life. When I am not consumed by my coursework, I like to hang out with my partner and our dogs, eat good food, go hiking, camping, and make trips to the beach. If the weather is bad, I'll find a good show to stream or play video games.Currently, my favorite courses are anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. I am basically a science nerd and I enjoy sharing my love of learning with others. Even if it has been several years since I have seen the material, I enjoy the thrill of relearning something I have forgotten as a team. After all, the learning never stops, and there is always something to be discovered if you dig a littler deeper.

I am currently a fourth grade teacher and have been teaching for five years. This upcoming school year (2016-2017) will be my sixth year in education. During my career, I have taught pre-k, kindergarten, third grade, and currently fourth. I discovered that teaching was my passion as a young child. I can remember always wanting to play school with my friends.I believe every child has the ability to learn. Some children learn in different ways and at a different pace. I always try to instill in my students the ability to never give up. I always tell my students that saying the words "I can't" is not an option. The words "I can't" are simply not allowed. I try to make learning fun and interesting. I have always found that students tend to hate what they cannot understand. Patience is definitely the key when working with children. I believe that children can achieve and conquer any subject area with the right support. I am here to help, guide, and support as much as I can.
I received my MS in math from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and my BS in math from Augusta University. I was pursuing a PhD in math at UTK so I have 5 years of teaching experience on top of 4 years of tutoring experience in undergrad. I love helping students one-on-one and that's why I tutored middle and high schoolers privately while also working at the math lab at AU tutoring adults. I tutor any math class from middle school to undergraduate, and I also excel with test prep (SAT, GRE, etc.). My approach to tutoring is helping students understand not only how you complete a problem but why we complete the problem that way; I also try to instill academic confidence in my students.
As a recent graduate in Medical Physiology from Augusta University, I am passionate about helping students excel in learning topics involving Chemistry and Biology. I focus on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters critical thinking and confidence. I employ a personalized approach, tailoring my teaching methods to meet each student's unique needs while emphasizing conceptual understanding over rote memorization. My goal is to empower students to achieve their academic aspirations and develop a genuine interest in the sciences. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy following updates in science through youtube channels like Scishow which I would recommend for students who are interested and other channels for my other hobbies like gaming and comics.
I am dedicated to using my experience in the classroom to develop lessons, curriculum, and instructional materials to improve student learning as well as promote effective teaching practices.
I am a graduate of the magnet program (STEAM program) at Joseph Wheeler High School. I am currently a Cellular and Molecular Biology Major at Augusta University in the accelerated 7 year BD/DMD program. I tutor many subjects from math and science to composition. I work with a broad range of students from kindergarten - the collegiate level. My favorite way to work with students is to first build a strong foundation so they can feel confident in their abilities, review coursework from school to reiterate what their teacher has taught, and then move ahead so they can feel comfortable with upcoming topics.
