After more than fifteen years teaching high school and college American history, I find that some students either need or want additional help/instruction after the school bell rings. I have tutored students for the last 7 years in small group or one and one to help them master certain aspects of history: content, skill based, or test-taking strategies.I specialize in US History with emphasis on writing for standardized tests and AP exams. I have a MA in History from McNeese State University and I am AP certified, Social Studies 7-12 certified, and I am an AP reader for the College Board. I have years of training on AP US History writing styles and rubrics.I believe in meeting students where they are academically and helping them understand content and writing skills to pass classes and/or tests. I love American History and also hope to help students learn to love it....or at least tolerate it a bit more.

I have been an educator for nine years. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Prairie View A&M University and I earned my Masters In Teaching Leadership at Lamar University.

I am a graduate of Texas State University where I received my bachelor in Business Marketing. After completing my bachelor I went on to obtain my teaching certificate. I went on to obtain my Masters in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. Since obtaining my teaching certificate I have spent many years in the classroom as a teacher. I have 7 years of classroom teaching experience, as well as 2 years of leadership experience as an instructional coach and assistant principal. I love working with all ages of Elementary students, and better understanding what their needs are, and how I can help them to be successful! I believe that in order for a student to be successful you need to get to know them and truly understand their learning style, and I pride myself on ensuring I build a relationship with all of my students and I do everything I can to ensure their growth and progress. Being a mom to 4 amazing children I don't have a lot of spare time, but when I do have it I enjoy being outside!

I am a graduate of Lamar University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. I also received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California. I worked eleven years in corporate business as a chemical engineer, until I chose to leave to pursue my passion which is education. For the last thirteen years, I have been teaching developmental math classes at the community college level. In addition, I have been tutoring students of all ages and levels.I enjoy tutoring students, because you get to experience that light bulb moment with them. They realize that things aren't as complex as they were originally thinking. I emphasize showing the rules of math. So often students get confused on certain concepts because they have learned some type of shortcut in the past, which does not apply with all cases. However, if the students just know the rules, they can apply their knowledge with any given problem. The rules will never change; the only thing that changes are the numbers.My tutoring work also helps me be a better classroom teacher, because by working one-on-one you learn where the misunderstandings may be with a particular concept.

I have a BS degree from Texas Women's University in Kinesiology/Math specialized in coaching. I also have a MEd degree from Lamar University. My career consisted of 30 years teaching middle and high school math classes, serving as the high school testing coordinator and middle school assistant principal. Several years were spent coaching girls sports at the middle school and high school level. During this time I have taught all levels of math classes as well as all levels of students. I understand students learn from different types of instruction, different types of environments and sometimes lots of patience. As an educator I have taught other topics besides math. I always build on what the student already knows about the topic. If very little is known, then we explore and create a base of knowledge.

I have recently completed my master degree in Chemical Engineering. I have over 4 years of tutoring experiences with broad range of subject in Math and Science for high school and college students. I graduated with a 4.0 from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, with a Bachelor's of Arts in English. While pursuing my degree, I logged over 600 hours in the public school classroom working mostly with middle school and high school students, although I did have some experience working with elementary school students. I have taught in whole class, small group, and individual settings, and I anticipate receiving my Texas teacher certification by the end of January 2014. I consider myself to have two lives. For the 18 years of my adult life I worked at various positions at a major oil company assisting lawyers, geologists, and engineers. I decided to complete my bachelor's degree and become an educator. I have a bachelor's degree in Applied Arts and Science, master's degrees in School Administration and School Counseling from Lamar University. I have the following certifications: Special Education, ESL, Generalist (Grades 4-8), Principal, and School Counselor. I have training in assessing for dyslexia and providing skills training for the identified students. I have worked with struggling learners in both the special education and general education population.
