I am an undergraduate engineering student at North Carolina University, I plan on double majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I love math; the logic and problem solving involved in the subject makes this my favorite subject to tutor. Similarly, I also enjoy physics because this subject is like a puzzle, and I enjoy breaking a problem down into its components. I tutor math up to Calculus 3 and Physics from High School Physics 1 and AP Physics to College level physics.As a current college student, I understand what works for students and what doesn't work; my teaching philosophy is simple and systematic. I am a graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education; a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Masters of School Administration and my doctorate in Educational Leadership and Supervision. Growing up I developed a love for education by witnessing my mother teach and help students in the neighborhood. I knew when I was in kindergarten that I wanted to be a teacher and in 1992 upon graduating from college I was afforded the opportunity to become a teacher in the county in which I lived as a child. I was a teacher for 19 years, prior to becoming an assistant principal and principal. I served as an assistant principal and principal for 8 years before taking a position as Director of Curriculum & Instruction/Title I and Chief Academic Officer. I retired in June of 2023 after completing 31 years of service in education. I knew when I retired that it would be hard to just stop. I have always had a desire to help students learn and be successful. I believe that students learn differently and as educators we have to adapt our teaching to meet their individual needs.

I am a graduate of NC State University (Political Science) with a Master's degree from Liberty University (Instructional Design) and currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the same university. I currently teach various subjects for an online high school and I have in the past traveled to teach Public Speaking skills. Hello! I'm Erintrude, a recent graduate of Kenyon College and an MFA candidate at NCSU. I have two years of experience tutoring elementary level reading and writing for two different families, and miscellaneous tutoring experience in the fields of French, English and Test Prep (SAT and ACT). As a co-founder and head editor of a publishing press at my college, for a year and a half I have run workshops where I assigned contemporary literature, and taught these pieces to deepen reader's comprehension. Currently I am teaching a class of high schoolers in a summer program offered by the publishing press. I have experience with World Literature and translation studies as well. I'm passionate about language and I'm passionate about understanding. I tailor my teaching to the student, and in that sense we grow together in an environment of patience, support, and love for learning.

Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for languages. I remember going to airports with my parents, asking them about all the different languages that I heard there. In elementary school I would design my own writing systems to share with my friends. This love carried on into my college career, where I majored in Spanish Language & Literature, acquiring a BA at North Carolina State University. During my time there, I studied extensively in the Spanish language and culture of the Spanish-speaking world, including teaching and assessment methods related to Spanish language education. Since high school, I've always had a passion for both teaching and mathematics, and the more I learn about both the more passionate I become. I was inspired by my high school math teacher, Mr. Byan, who displayed such a love of learning and teaching that it became infectious, and I hope to spread his joy for the subject and the appreciation of mathematics' profound beauty.I'm working towards an undergraduate degree in math, and hope to pursue a graduate degree afterward. I've been teaching since my first year of undergrad, and ever since I've looked for ways to continue -- through my personal and professional life.I think that the standard education system does a horrible job at teaching mathematics and often leaves students feeling like they're memorizing formulas. Real math is all about the journey to the answer, but grade school math is far too focused on just the answer.However, I feel strongly students should rarely have to memorize anything, and the ideas presented to students should always be motivated and explained so they understand the why and the what. I've found in my own experience teaching, too, that motivating the answer to a problem gives students a greater desire to learn as well as a deeper understanding, and it develops critical thinking skills.
