As an Alumna of Rockhurst University, I have dedicated my career and voluntary work to advocacy and education. I am currently attending Law School at Washburn University as I wanted to obtain a career to use my reading and writing skills for advocacy. I enjoy teaching English, Reading, and Writing skills as they are the foundation for any academic or professional opportunity. During undergraduate I ran my own mentoring program where I assisted high school students with english essays, scholarship essays, and reading skills, In which every senior in the program was accepted into college and received scholarships. Concurrently, I served as a Girl Scout Troop leader where I practiced sight words, reading comprehension, and writing skills using microphones and bubbles. I believe that a creative education space builds resilience and critical thinking skills which will nicely accompany a strong foundation of reading and writing skills.

I am a graduate of the University of Missouri Columbia, where I received a B.A. in Spanish along with a Minor in Business. I received my Master of Education degree from Rockhurst University. This is my fourth year as a Spanish educator, and I currently teach at Center School District at the middle school level. I am very passionate about foreign languages. Growing up in Stockholm, Sweden, I learned the importance of different cultures and languages at a young age. Helping my students become successful learners is truly a job I consider myself lucky to have. I believe that being a patient and caring educator is what helps students achieve their fullest potential. Recognizing that all students learn differently is a key factor in reaching educational goals, which is why I teach content using differentiated instruction. I am excited to branch out and tutor subjects besides Spanish in the Kansas City area, including Math and English language skills, even though Spanish holds a special place in my heart. When I am not teaching Spanish, I enjoy reading books (currently the Hunger Games series), watching movies, playing video games (I am a Mario addict), and exploring different restaurants. My wife and I have two wiener dogs named Rocco and Ruby.

I am a graduate of The University of Kansas where I received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and of Rockhurst University where I received a Master in Business Administration. I spent 20 years as a business professional in the fields of network engineering, project management, pre-sales engineering, and engineering manager. I made a career change to go into education. I teach high school Spanish and absolutely love it! I am a native Spanish speaker and I am excited to be able to continue helping students online via Varsity Tutors. In my spare time, I enjoy reading lots of books and spending time with my 2 children and my husband.

I'm a passionate individual with 2 years of intense youth volunteer work for the Peace Corps in the country of Morocco and I spent the last year dedicated to high school social studies teaching in Kansas. I've been involved with teaching and working with youth, ages 9-18, for the last five years. Along with teaching I have coached youth tennis for a number of years both as a head middle school coach and assisted with the high school as well as at a private tennis club. I played college tennis and still greatly enjoy the sport. Outside of teaching and coaching tennis I have worked for four summers at a sleep away sports camp in Massachusetts. My role there as "Group Leader" includes overseeing about 60 ten-year old boys a day while having around 20 college aged counselors who report to me. This experience along with the past year of high school teaching continues to help me immensely with working through the many emotions and challenges and incredible opportunities that come along with being a student in school in today's world or being a teenager with the expectations and pressures that accompany being in middle school and high school.

I am originally from the suburbs of St. Louis, MO, and I attended Rockhurst University for my undergraduate degree. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French & Education with a minor in English Literature. I am also currently working towards a Master of Arts in French at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I am certified to teach French K-12 in the state of Missouri (and have the qualifications for Kansas). I enjoyed teaching at both the middle school and the high school level as part of my training. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored both writing and French. I am now substitute teaching at a French immersion school in the area, and I had fun teaching grades 2nd and 5th there over the summer. I am available to tutor English grammar, literature, writing, math up to Algebra 1, all levels of French, and test prep (including ACT). As someone with an appreciation for languages, I especially like tutoring English and French. Since I am a certified teacher, I am prepared to present information in a variety of ways to help my students with understanding. Additionally, I like to help my students take responsibility for their own learning during our sessions. I attended college at Rockhurst University where I received my B.S. in Mathematics. After graduating from there, I attended Saint Louis University, where I began work on my M.A. in Mathematics, which is still in progress.I began tutoring students at a private company, where I worked during my senior year of high school. While at Rockhurst, I worked in the Learning Center for two years as a tutor and as a Supplemental Instructor for one year. In addition, I had the opportunity to shadow a local high school math teacher. At SLU, I worked in their Tutoring Center for one semester and during my second semester I taught a section of College Algebra.I am able to tutor many different areas of math, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. Of these, my favorite is definitely Calculus, because I think that there are many people with misconceptions about the subject, and I enjoy showing people that there is nothing to afraid of, and that it can actually be fun!Outside of math, my hobbies include video games and watching movies. I also can be persuaded to perform some card tricks from time to time.

I am a scholar with a Masters in History from UMKC and a BA in English/History of Rockhurst. I've always been passionate about both and I am widely read. I can help you understand the context of history or the meaning of a novel and help you succeed. I obtained a 5 on the AP US Gov, AP US History, AP Lit and AP Language examinations, and can thus help for test prep as well.

I currently attend the Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. For my undergraduate work, I attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Spanish. While at Rockhurst, I worked as a tutor at the university's Learning Center, where I tutored students in a variety of science subjects, including Biology, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Chemistry and Microbiology. Though I have tutored several subjects, my favorite is Biology, because I consider it fascinating and very useful. I believe that approaching one's subject material with the correct attitude is key, and that hard work and determination are conducive to success in academics. I am a graduate of Rockhurst University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in English Literature. Upon graduating, I became certified to teach both elementary education (grades 1-6) and English Language Arts (grades 5-9) in the state of Missouri. I am currently a 3rd year Doctor of Physical Therapy student at Rockhurst University. I obtained my Bachelors in Health Sciences from the University of Missouri - Columbia (Mizzou). During my time at Mizzou, I was a preschool tutor for 2 years through a program called Jumpstart. The primary focus of this program was to teach children preparing for kindergarten how to read. In addition, I edited papers for undergraduate peers at the university level, as well as tutored classmates on subjects, such as Anatomy. After graduation, I was an assistant preschool teacher for 1 year, where I helped children learn their letters, numbers, how to spell their name, as well as many other skill sets. After being accepted into graduate school, I continue to edit papers and group projects, as well as help my peers study for our upcoming exams. I am extremely organized and like to share my tips and tricks with those seeking help in organizing their class work. I have also been told I have "the patience of a saint" on more than one occasion, and I would also describe myself as friendly, reliable, and kind. I have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University and a degree in physical therapy from Rockhurst University. I am a licensed physical therapist with over 15 years of teaching experience at the college level, where I taught a wide variety of physical therapy topics and a majority of our graduating classes had a 100% first time pass rate on their board exam. As a tutor, I provide students with a detailed schedule and materials to study each week to keep them on track, followed by weekly quizzes to hold them accountable. I am a graduate of Portland State University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts/Applied Linguistics. Currently, I am completing a Master's of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech Pathology) at Rockhurst University. My undergraduate degree gave me a unique insight into the structure and function of language, especially English. During my time at Rockhurst University, I have worked as a Graduate Clinician at a small private school where I met with clients who struggled with spelling, writing, and reading comprehension. All three of these skills are interconnected, and progress in these areas requires use and understanding of complex syntax, morphology, phonetics, orthography and semantics. For this reason, I utilize a multilinguistic approach that simultaneously targets word-level spelling and reading, vocabulary expansion, spelling and writing conventions,and the use and comprehension of complex sentence structures. This approach can be tailored to each individual based on their needs and skill level. I firmly believe that competence in spelling, writing and reading comprehension are integral to continued academic success, and it is for this reason that I focus on improving these skills with those that I work with. I am a recent college grad with a Bachelors in both Psychology and French from Rockhurst University. Currently I am preparing for graduate school in which I will be furthering my studies in French. In the future I hope to become an interpreter for businesses that look to form relations in francophone countries!My tutoring experience is largely peer based. I am a college graduate from Rockhurst University. I graduated with a BA in French/Education and I have an ESL certification. I have worked with kids in tutoring and mentoring since I was about 16 years old. I know how frustrating it can be to not understand something while it is being taught in the classroom. I have found that finance is not a subject that many students have had much exposure to in the past. I chose a career in finance because I find it to be a very important, challenging and rewarding occupation. I have worked in the investment management and financial planning industry for 25 years. I currently work for a Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm that handles complex client relationships. I have also been an adjunct university finance professor for 9 years that taught master's and undergraduate finance classes. I received my MBA from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO. I received my bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in psychology from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I do hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. I have also been a grader of the level III CFA exam many times. I also am a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). I do enjoy tutoring investment management, corporate finance and financial planning. I believe finance is an art form that may not always have one answer. My style is one of calmness and patience with students. I may not always have the answer right away but will get it. I do also believe the basics are completely understood before we move on to more complex topics.
