I am a junior at Stony Brook University, majoring in Applied Math and Statistics. I tutor in practically any form of math, whether it is algebra, calculus, statistics, or standardized test prep in math. I am the first person in my family to be born in the United States. My entire family are immigrants and it was only recently that my last remaining family members came over from China. My interest and experience in tutoring comes from helping my cousins through school.My oldest cousin after me is three younger which means she was about to learn everything that I just had. When I a senior in high school, my cousins ranged from elementary school to freshman in high school. Going off to college led me to reflect on all the years I spent helping my cousins through school. I absolutely love teaching! I've taught ESL, Spanish and Italian to students ages 7 through adulthood! I teach Spanish and Italian in a high school during the day and then teach ESL to adults and young children two evenings each week. During the summer months you'd think I'd rest right? Nope! I love Biology, chemistry, and Psychology and am currently teaching my own chemistry course at Stony Brook University under the guidance of Dr. Troy Wolfskill, the head of the chemistry department at the university. So far I love my teaching position as it not only brings me happiness in helping others succeed, but it helps me build a stronger understanding on how to be a better instructor. When I teach, I try not to lecture the student, but engage them by connecting what I teach with real-life scenarios. Especially in hard sciences like biology, this makes it much easier for students to understand the topic. Outside of academia, I am a professional swimmer of 15 years, I love to hike, bike, and scuba dive. I also work part time as a model and am a market specialist for Bai, a drink company based in the northeastern America.

I have four years of full-time classroom teaching experience, but many more as a tutor. I started tutoring when I was in the sixth grade, and I now work with students from grades six through college. I also teach SAT and ACT preparation courses. While my favorite subject to teach is Social Studies, my Math and English students have gone on to great success as well. I know that every student has a unique learning style and success is often a matter of finding the right motivation. When I'm not teaching, my favorite thing to do is read to my own children.

After working as a high school English teacher in New York for ten years, I came to Austin to pursue a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at UT.Working with students on an individual basis is a wonderful opportunity for me to craft a personalized approach to subject matter and techniques. I especially enjoy working with students on their writing, whether personal essays or application statements that they have time to edit and revise, or on-demand writing tasks that appear on tests like the SAT or the AP Exam.

I have been tutoring for years in a variety of subjects, but my true passion is the structure, mechanics, and analysis of language - both English and Spanish. I graduated as Valedictorian from Stony Brook University with my B.A. in Spanish Language & Literature. I have been studying Spanish since the 6th grade and have spent extensive periods of time abroad, which range from taking linguistics classes in Madrid to doing farm work in rural Mexico.
