I am a high school math teacher in Brooklyn who began tutoring when I was a high school student. I enjoy all things math and feel that all of my students need to build confidence in the skills they already have. I feel students can learn better in a one-on-one environment if they are motivated to do so. I will gladly work with you and your family to help you succeed in math! When I'm not teaching, I love to cook and bake new recipes, watch sports, and explore what the city has to offer.

Hi,My name is Martin. I have a Bachelor degree in Biology from the University of Miami, and I am currently working on an MPH with the American Military University.I love teaching, and I am excited to work with the students here.
I am a graduate of the University of Miami, where I received my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. I also earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California Irvine. In my eight years of tutoring and teaching, I have worked with teens and adults across the United States, as well as two years teaching young children in Japan. My tutoring specialty is in Verbal, Writing, and Critical Reading for the GRE, SAT, and ACT, but I have an overall passion for English language and literature. I believe that the best teaching is usually calm and fun, which springs from a personal relationship based on care and trust for one another. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy writing, cooking (especially vegetarian and gluten-free/allergen-free cuisines), running, and traveling to new cities.
I am looking forward to being your tutor! I am a strong believer in helping and teaching others in any way that I can, and at the same time making the world a better place. My mission is to help you succeed and achieve your goals one session at a time.
Hi, I'm Jadian, and I'm here to help you master architecture software with confidence and creativity. With hands-on experience, I've used these tools extensively in both academic and professional settings. That experience sparked my passion for teaching and mentorship. I believe learning software doesn't have to feel overwhelming. I'll guide you step by step, making the process fun, practical, and tailored to your goals. Whether you're just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, I'm excited to support your journey in architecture and design. Let's get started!

My name is Dr. Daniel Scherwatzky, and I am an English educator, writing specialist, and scholar with a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Miami. My academic and professional journey has been centered around one core mission: helping students become stronger, more confident thinkers, writers, readers, and communicators. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with students across high school, college, and adult learning environments, giving me broad experience adapting instruction to diverse educational needs, learning styles, and academic goals. My teaching background began internationally through the Japanese Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, where I taught English at the high school level in Tokyo, Japan. This experience strengthened my ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, foster student confidence, and create engaging lessons for learners from varied cultural and academic backgrounds. Since returning to the United States, I have continued to build on this foundation through years of advanced scholarship, college-level instruction, writing center tutoring, and university teaching. At the University of Miami, I taught composition, literature, and academic writing while also serving as a writing tutor for undergraduate and graduate students. In these roles, I guided students through every stage of the writing process: from brainstorming and thesis development to revision, rhetorical analysis, and polished final drafts. My work has consistently focused on empowering students not only to improve individual assignments but also to develop lifelong critical thinking and communication skills. As a tutor, I specialize in writing instruction, essay development, literary analysis, reading comprehension, research skills, and academic confidence-building. Whether a student is preparing for high school coursework, college essays, standardized assessments, or advanced university writing, I strive to create an encouraging, intellectually engaging environment where they feel supported and capable of growth. My approach combines rigorous academic standards with patience, adaptability, and genuine personal investment in student success. I understand that every learner has unique strengths and challenges, and I take pride in tailoring lessons to individual goals while building both skill mastery and self-assurance. Students and families can expect from me not just subject expertise, but a dedicated educational partner committed to helping learners unlock their full potential. I am passionate about making writing and reading feel approachable, rewarding, and transformative. I am excited for the opportunity to work with students through Varsity Tutors and to help them strengthen the skills that will serve them throughout their academic journeys and beyond.
Hello there! Hope you are doing well today. My name is Agnes and I am a recent graduate of the University of Miami. I have experience tutoring for an award winning company and for Varsity Tutors since last November. Successful tutoring involves two essential elements: an engaging, tutor who is effective at communicating concepts, and a committed, involved student who wants to learn. Frequently, I hear from parents that their student enjoyed the session with me. I believe this is because I do my best to make my sessions interactive, engaging and educational. I am proud to say that I have received positive feedback from parents thanking me for taking the time to help their student reach new heights in their academics. Most notably, a student I met with twice a week got his first A in his eighth grade Algebra class. Another one of my previous students got into her into her dream school-National Cathedral with the test taking strategy I provided. I absolutely love sharing the tools I have learned in my educational journey with others and seeing them flourish. Varsity Tutors gives me the ability to do just that!My track record includes: high school students for the SAT, 4th graders for the Cogat, SSAT, and ISEE, 8th graders for school subjects like algebra and the ISEE and SSAT.Thank you so much for reading. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
I am a hard working systems professional that has never outgrown my love for math or for coaching others. As a student, I earned a BS in Mathematics/Psychology from Manhattan College with a minor in Computer Science. At that time I coached students in calculus and advanced mathematics. At this time, I also coached high school students in algebra and trigonometry. As a professional, I have trained and mentored hundreds of individuals throughout my career. I have both designed systems, created training material and traveled in both the US and Europe to train my co-workers. In addition, I have worked as on-line instructor for University of Phoenix, teach programming and Computer Information Systems. I coach basketball, baseball and soccer for my child's local sports teams. My most important job is that of a father to my 12 year old son. I have worked with him over the years, and I am proud to say that he is sharing in my love of math as a student in the Math Program at the local Middle School. My favorite word when coaching is the word 'Yet'. Of course students may not be good at math...yet. And of course, a student may not know an answer to a math problem...yet. But with a little work, focus and motivation, WE can make it that understanding math is a great experience.
I am a recent magna cum laude graduate from the University of Miami, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Immunology. Furthermore, I am an accepted medical student and will officially start my medical education in August 2016. As a result of these accomplishments, I know for a fact that dedication and effort can pay off when it comes to academics. While my ultimate goal is to become a physician, I also greatly enjoy helping students learn and reach their academic potential. From firsthand experience, I understand that most schools provide a cookie-cutter style of teaching that may not be the best way for many students to learn a particular subject/topic. My goal as a tutor is to not only highlight a student's strengths to keep them motivated, but to also challenge them and encourage them to reach new levels of success with their education through a personalized style of learning. As a STEM advocate, I specialize in teaching most levels of math, science, and writing.I look forward to hearing from you and helping you reach your full academic potential!
I recently graduated from University of Miami, where I earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering. I have also gotten admission into medical school.By taking rigorous classes in college and studying for the MCAT, I have learned that a great teacher can alleviate so much stress. The knowledge that someone is by your side and is truly passionate about you achieving your goals is something that has no substitute. That is why I started tutoring 4 years ago. Every subject I tutor is one that I consider myself to be an expert at, and I am confident that I can share some of my expertise. With my engineering background and literary skills, I am prepared to tutor a variety of subjects. That being said, some of the subjects I tutor most are ACT, various branches of math, engineering, reading, and Spanish.I am so grateful for this opportunity to tutor because for me, it doesn't feel like work. I cherish the opportunity to help students who want to help themselves. I look forward to making this positive impact.

I graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Business Management. After graduation, I pursued opportunities in the non-profit and government sectors. I also travelled and explored owning my own business. I am a business, financial and life coach.
I have decades of experience both in academe as well as in the financial services field, and have helped thousands of adults reach their academic and professional licensing goals.
I have a passion for science, math, and teaching. Graduating valedictorian of my high school class and majoring in Chemistry at the University of Miami, I'm equipped with the knowledge and experience to help you learn and study effectively. I love to motivate and inspire my students by sharing my enthusiasm for the subjects I teach, as well as relating text book information to real-world applications. I look forward to helping you reach your academic goals!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Art History and French. I've lived in France, Venezuela, Miami, and now New York, where I work at an art gallery full time. Besides teaching languages, I enjoy sharing sayings, traditions, and cultural customs, to create a well-rounded and dynamic learning experience.
I am an educator and mentor dedicated to helping students build confidence, improve performance, and achieve their academic goals. I recently earned my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Miami with a 4.0 GPA and Academic Merit of Distinction. I create supportive, engaging, and goal-oriented learning environments while adapting my teaching approach to meet each student's individual learning needs.
I am a second year medical student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where I hold a degree in engineering from as well. I have tutored for the SAT exam during my undergraduate studies at the University of Miami (GO CANES!), and have lots of experience helping students prepare for courses. I'm patient and willing to repeat instructions multiple times, and I believe the only stupid question is a question you already know the answer to, meaning that I will answer any and all of the simplest questions. In my spare time I enjoying reading almost everything I can get my hands on, playing violin and singing in various shades of talent depending on the amount of privacy I have. I also enjoy watching and playing sports especially football, soccer and watching not playing basketball. I'm a firm believer in interactive learning walking through things in order to get the result.
If you had asked me in middle school what my favorite subject in school was, I'd have told you, "History!" and that was closely followed by English. I've always loved the power of storytelling to help us to learn about the past, the present, and perhaps most importantly, ourselves. It came as no surprise to my family and friends that I chose to major in history in college. As an undergraduate, I attended Ohio State University and completed my degree at Otterbein College, a small liberal arts school in Columbus, Ohio. Not content to simply read about history and the great works of literature, I pursued my M.A. and Ph.D in American history at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where I learned to create my own stories about the past. Now that I have completed my Ph.D., I finally get to focus my attention on sharing my passion for storytelling with others. I like to work with students of all ages. I have taught courses at the college level, and I've worked with high school students as well. I have two younger brothers in middle school, so I feel especially attuned to the psyche of that age group. In order to finish my degree in history, I wrote a 400 page dissertation and completed a field of study in English. Through this experience and my classroom teaching, I am well versed in the English language and can help you or your children not only to learn history, but also how to improve their reading and writing. If like me, your aim is to attend graduate school, I can also help you to prepare for the GRE verbal. I took the GRE twice and raised my score dramatically the second time through a combination of hard work and learning smart test taking strategies. I'd love to share that knowledge with others. While I'm certainly an expert in my field, I'm very friendly and down-to-earth. In my free time, I enjoy binge watching Netflix, cooking, shopping, hiking, watching Buckeye football, exercising, and playing soccer and tennis. In their evaluations of my teaching, students consistently commented that I was "nice," approachable, understanding, and communicated information clearly. Whether you struggle to learn the subject material, to get organized with your assignments or even just motivated to complete them, I am here to help and to boost your confidence in the process!
I started tutoring because I've always had a knack for explaining things to people, and I've gotten good feedback from students I've tutored as well as friends that I've helped. I've been tutoring math and science for a couple of years off and on, and hope to continue helping people because these are subjects that I want to retain knowledge of for as long as possible. I can pretty much tutor any age or experience level, although my favorite is college level calculus II.I like to use visual and kinesthetic methods to explain concepts to students. I focus on ensuring that students really understand the theory behind why we solve problems a certain way versus just memorizing a formula or function. This method has helped a lot of my students become note confident in their problem-solving skills as well as become more able to learn new concepts easier because they have a better understanding of the fundamentals. In addition to general course subjects, I have experience training for math brain bowls, preparing for standardized testing, and studying for the fundamentals of engineering exam.
I'm Divya Srinivasan, a freshman at the University of Miami majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business Law. I am on the pre-law track and am passionate about giving back to my community! Since then, I have helped my peers and tutored other students, helping them write meaningful college application essays and supplements. I am so excited to work with you and help you achieve all of your writing goals!

I am an experienced and passionate tutor, that has worked with a range of students and adults. I am also a two-time published author that has a deep love of writing and guiding students on their writing journeys through whatever assignments feel like obstacles in the current moment.
I graduated from the University of Miami with a BS in Physics. While in high school, I attended math competitions across the country including one at Princeton University and another at New York University. My love for mathematics eventually led to virtual tutoring through Florida Virtual School where I tutored over 150 hours in Pre-Calculus, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Chemistry. I love to teach because it lets me share my enthusiasm for mathematics and science with other students and helps me get a deeper understanding of material that is useful for my higher level mathematics and physics courses. As a tutor, I break down complicated problems into manageable concepts so students can gain confidence in solving these problems on their own.
Hello my name is Viraj Shah and I'm a 2nd year medical student at the University of Miami. I have extensive experience tutoring in all science subjects (orgo, biology, genetics, physics), math and reading. I have been an SAT and ACT tutoring for over 6 years now at the local Boys and Girls Club. I also have extensive experience tutoring for the MCAT, from best practices to more technical skills as well. I enjoy tutoring and realize everyone learns in a unique way. I try to cater my style to my student and help them reach the full extent of their capabilities.I am an avid fan of basketball and tennis, and play whenever I find the time.
My first math lesson was when I was three years old. When I learned how to add numbers, I realized that there are numerous ways to find a solution, which propelled me to math being my favorite subject. I enjoyed seeing how numbers, logic, and operations come together. Now as a college student pursuing a dual degree in Finance and Business Analytics, I need to apply these math concepts into the business world.Out of all the subjects I have taken, math has been the consistent honors class I take every year. In other words, I always take the highest offered math course that school year allows me to take. In my 5th grade honors math class, I got the highest prealgebra pretest grade out of the whole class. While other students scored in the 50s, I got a 82. Since then, I knew math was my passion. I also did math league competitions and math Olympiad throughout middle and high school. I understood everything the teacher said and quickly became a secondary teacher for my classmates outside the classroom. My first tutoring experience took place in high school. While I took the most accelerated math subjects, I assisted others on their lower math subjects-subjects I took years before. I took my interest of math into AP Statistics, AP Calc, and Multivariable Calc and loved how the symbols created almost a new language of math. When I tutor students, my biggest advice is to understand and memorize the concept before applying formulas and operations into the problem. Practice is a big emphasis to succeed, especially higher degree math. I can teach basically any type of math lower than multivariable calculus, with exception to geometry, since I am not as strong as algebra or calculus. I really do not have a favorite math subject to tutor, since they all connect with each other and I have different styles to teach each of them.Outside of math, I am a big sports fan, and love applying statistics to specific teams and players. I also love playing poker.
I received my PhD in Psychology/Behavioral Medicine from the University of Miami after receiving my M.S in Clinical Health Psychology from UM, and B.A. in Psychology and B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Consequently, my favorite subjects to tutor are psychology and biology! I also love tutoring writing as I have had extensive experience with academic writing throughout my career. I have taught at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate level and thoroughly enjoy working with students. I have always loved learning and I love sharing my love of learning with others!
Hi, my name is Jake Covelli. I am 19 years old, and I am attending the University of Miami. I enjoy tutoring math, and do my absolute best to ensure the students' education and attentiveness.
Currently a doctoral teaching assistant at the university level, I have many years of experience teaching both middle school and high school. My strengths are math, music, and test prep, but I am eager to help students achieve their goals with any subject matter. My priorities for students include goal-setting and critical thinking, embracing the process and making sure to have fun and believe in yourself along the way.
Test taking strategies, not a measure of intelligence but ability to apply AAMC topics. Given time and effort, anyone can score the right score to these exams. Also tough science
I am a recent graduate of the University of Miami with a BA in Geography and minors in Urban Studies and Ecosystem Science and Policy. When I am not making maps for the City of Coral Gables, Florida, I am ready to help in a number of subject areas like Spanish, geography, and algebra!
The only difference between you and the you, you ultimately want to be.. is what you're willing to sacrifice to get there
I am a graduate of Miami University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a focus on Organizational Behavior. Since graduation, I have lived in Colorado, Ohio, and now currently live outside Washington, DC. I spent over 20 years in the IT business as a programmer, project manager, software architect, and client relationship manager. After retiring from corporate life I have spent my days doing things I love to do - providing assistance and mentoring to children, adolescents, and young adults. I have taught English and Computer Applications at the middle school level and Life Skills for autistic kids. In addition to teaching in the public school system, I do private one-on-one behavior therapy with autistic children. I am a firm proponent of taking a steady and affiliative approach to education, believing it to be the most effective way of improving the quality of learning and life.
Hey there! The first thing I want to say is "Don't Worry!" Whether you just hit a rough patch or have been struggling for a while, I am here to help you. Tutoring is not just a side job for me- it is a passion. I will do whatever it takes to not only improve your understanding and scores, but to be there as a friend and supporter in whatever you may need because I truly believe that tutoring is the best resource availabIe for so many different students. I currently attend the University of Miami as a Public Health and Human Resources double major while running cross country and track. In addition to running, I love pottery, frozen yogurt, yoga, and going to the beach. My favorite subjects to tutor are SAT, SAT II tests, and algebra, but I am happy to help with almost any course including physics, chemistry, and other types of math.
I am a law student, but I took an unusual route to get there. I used to attend medical school but had a change of heart in my career path. Part of this was due to my political science major (double major with biology) in college as well as a number of Spanish and other courses that I took. Tutoring is something, I feel, that has come naturally to me, even back to my high school days. My goal is to help you learn as much as you can and reach your true potential. I will work hard to make sure that this happens, as long as you put in the work, too! We will work together to tailor your learning experience to your needs.
I'm passionate about helping others achieve their goals. I'm fortunate to have completed the SIE, Series 7, 63, 65 and Level I of the CFA. I'm now eager to help others accomplish their goals of passing professional Securities exams.
Senior Operations, Compliance and Non-Profit Leader with extensive experience in dramatically improvingperformance in a variety of business environments. Extensive experience in driving positive change in organizations andimplementing systems for continuous improvement. Demonstrated results in cost control, cost reduction, productivityimprovements, disaster readiness and sales by using the ability to identify and develop talent and forge consensusbetween cross functional groups.
I am a freshman at the University of Miami, majoring in Microbiology and Immunology on the pre-med track. I have been tutoring for three years now in a broad range of subjects. My favorite subjects to tutor, though, are biology and math. Tutoring is very rewarding to me because it is a way I can help increase a child's confidence and belief in their own abilities. One important part I incorporate into my teaching is discussion, which, I believe, encourages a student to explore the inner workings of any concept. This allows them to adapt their thinking to new contexts and all sorts of problems as well. Outside of school, I love to sing and read fantasy books.
