I am a college graduate of Bloomsburg University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Middle School English Language Arts. In addition, I received my Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certification from a TEFL school in Santiago, Chile. Post graduation, I moved to Germany where I taught Grade One for one year and Learning Support for three years. I taught at the elementary and middle school level as I was the Learning Support coordinator for the whole school (Grades K-12). I really enjoy teaching math and reading/writing. I know how to make learning fun so my students really enjoyed coming to my one to one and small group lessons. Even the kids who didn't have learning disabilities wanted to come to my classroom! During my time in Germany I received my Orton Gillingham training as well as attended many conferences on differentiated instruction and inclusion in the classroom, and reading and writing workshops. I am also Numicon trained. I have lots of experience with teaching students one on one. I have taught in this setting in Germany as well as when we went online during the pandemic. After teaching in Germany, I moved to Spain and taught for two years at a bilingual high school. I taught in English alongside Spanish teachers in their subject area classes. These were bilingual classes where I taught vocabulary and grammar in English while the teachers taught the content.I am now close to fluent in Spanish and I have a lot more knowledge about these subjects. When I am not teaching I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, lifting weights, drinking a cold brew and reading a good book!

5+ Years Tutoring

Hello everyone, my name is Ayalibis. I am 24 years old. I graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. I received my bachelor's of Arts Languages and Cultures with a track in Spanish. I also have a minor in linguistics. As an undergrad student I worked as a Spanish tutor for the tutorials services on campus as well as a Conversational Partner for the department of Languages and Cultures. As a Spanish tutor for the university, I tutor all the Spanish levels from Spanish 1 up to the 400 level courses for about 3 years. Students will sign up so they can improve mostly on their grammatical skills as well as reading and speaking. While working for the department as a conversational partner, I helped students with their pronunciation and to feel more comfortable speaking the language. I spoke mostly in Spanish to them, but I pace my speaking so they could understand me and ask me questions about what I was saying. Sometimes I asked them to translate what I said or asked them to tell me what they understood in general and this gave me an idea on how to help them accordingly. I suggested some of those students try to watch their favorite tv shows or series in Spanish with the subtitles in English as well as to find music and other ways they could listen and practice the language more. I enjoy helping others so they understand and know more about the Spanish language and it's beautiful culture. I loved to see other students just coming to the office so they could practice their conversational skills and feel safe, since my only intention is and always will be to help you become more proficient in the language. I am excited to help you all learn more about this beautiful language. Learning a second language and becoming proficient in it is such a great tool for any career path you have chosen. An early teaching experience I had was during my Fall 2019 semester. I taught First and second grade students Spanish 1 introductory class for a catholic school. I taught them for an entire semester from September through December. Some of the topics I went over were: the alphabet, colors, numbers, shapes, objects, months of the year, days of the weeks, seasons of the years, places they could visit with family members etc, simple phrases so they could introduce themselves and answers questions based on what we were working in class. All I want to do is help those interestested in learning a new language. I can't wait to meet you all and learn from each other.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University and my Master's Degree in Special Education (Behavior Intervention and Support) from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. In addition, I have a TEFL-C Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language-Children). I have recently taught and traveled in China which gave me the opportunity to explore the landmarks in that area of the world. Travel also exposed me to different viewpoints and interesting discussions related to education (and other subjects, of course!). I am always trying to grow and develop myself and there were certainly many opportunities there. One unexpected new skill was playing darts! I joined a darts team which also allowed me to explore different areas of Beijing while meeting new people and eating good food. When tutoring children, I enjoy finding the likes and strengths of each child and, not only building upon them, but also using them to develop other areas of learning. I hope that children I teach love learning and begin to see that they can look for (research) the information they want to know.

My name is Yu Wen and I am a strong believer that anyone can learn anything! I attended the University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate and recently finished my Master's in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. As a tutor, I create a space where my learners can feel empowered and safe to take on the sometimes difficult, yet often fulfilling and fun, challenge of learning new things. I practice a growth mindset philosophy, and I often say that it is okay to be wrong, it just means you haven't learned the material... yet. With patience and effective pedagogy, I strive to give my students confidence that they can learn anything they set their mind to. I take my students' desires, motivations, goals, and interests seriously. Fun fact: I am an international student from Malaysia!

I am a graduate of Texas A&M University, where I received two Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and International Studies and a minor in Economics. From these degrees, I found my passion for culture and language. At Texas A&M, I helped tutor at evening ESL adult classes and was the TA for two writing-intensive courses in International Current Events and Gender and the Global Modern. In my experience tutoring, I always had the most fun exploring and relating the never-ending complexity of language and culture to our studies. Since graduation, I have volunteered with several non-profits as a translator in Guatemala and a Grant-writer state-side. I taught Spanish III & IV at the high school level (both online and in-person). I also worked part-time at a Children's Home, where I offered free tutoring services for elementary through high school level kids in a variety of subjects during the stay-at-home era of COVID-19. I seek to not only educate but to empower young men and women in their abilities to learn and succeed. I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work from one of the top programs in the country at the University of Pennsylvania. In my spare time, I find joy from being outside, hiking, biking, running, or playing the guitar. I love to explore and create. But overall, there is little I enjoy more than a cup of coffee and time with family and friends.

I knew I wanted to be a social studies teacher in 7th grade. We studied Ancient Egypt and Greece. My passion is history, especially Ancient History and I want to get students excited about the past. I earned my Ph.D. in Anthropology at Michigan State University. At MSU I was a Teaching Assistant (TA) and a professor and taught Introduction to Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, and Archaeology. I was a TA for many anthropology classes that were part of general education requirements. I earned my MA in Anthropology at the University of Oklahoma and my BA at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. At Bloomsburg I was a double major in History (WWII and Russian) and Anthropology. A trip to Mexico made me realize I wanted to be an Anthropological Archaeologist. I want to teach students about the past and current cultures from around the world. With an anthropological view students gain a greater understanding of history. During the last two years, I was an English as A Second Language (ESL) instructor for 6- to 14-year-old children that live in China. I found teaching English to young students very fulfilling and lots of fun. The subjects I can tutor for are ancient and modern history, anthropology, reading, and ESL.

As an educator, I've been teaching since 2004. I began my teaching career as a grad student at UNLV, where I taught dramatic literature courses for three years, having taught Script Structure and Analysis and how to apply that analysis to a student's own writing. I began teaching Composition (non fiction and essays) and Creative Writing to students from remedial levels to adult continuing education at Great Basin College for ten years. Non fiction courses concentrated primarily on argument and thesis development, which also includes the basics of argument writing, MLA and APA formats, and critical thinking skills.Having taught a wide array of students from both rural and urban environments, I have had ten years of professional development and classroom training that focuses on student's needs from socio-emotional development to presenting a multilingual/cultural curriculum using the mediums of art, plays and literature.

I am a university and high school science teacher, specializing in public health, fitness, and biology. I hold undergraduate degrees in Biology (B.S.) and Anthropology (B.A.) and my CPT certification through NASM. While I have been tutoring a wide range of subjects for over twenty years, I most enjoy teaching any subject involving the human body. I have always been amazed with its design, and I love sharing this enthusiasm with students! I believe that learning is a lifelong process and it's critical that we can all learn strategies and methods to best succeed and thereby continue discovering who we are as we study throughout life. I hold many professional certifications and have completed over ten years of graduate education and specializations after college, including my NASM personal training certification. One of my favorite endeavors is teaching this to others through a national Personal Training certification course on the college level (W.I.T.S.). I have vast experiences working with many common issues and struggles, and I love working in partnership to find "the key" for each student to optimize success. For this reason, I am very committed to teaching concepts in a variety of ways, especially focusing on analogies using everyday life experiences and visual images. I also firmly believe in keeping relationship- and confidence-building central to our partnership. I always strive to create an environment where the student feels comfortable to openly share their goals and struggles. In my free time, I love to run, swim, and read.
