As an incoming freshman at Emory University on a pre-med track with a focus on Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology, my passion for helping students is rooted in my own educational experiences. During my time at Johns Creek High School and Innovation Academy, I discovered the joy of supporting others in their learning journeys. At DoReMi Music Academy, I instructed over 70 students in violin, organizing recitals that boosted their confidence and showcased their progress. Additionally, through Innovation Academy, I tutored more than 50 students in subjects like AP Chemistry, Spanish, and Calculus, developing personalized lesson plans that improved their performance. My teaching philosophy centers on interactive learning. I use active recall techniques, like flashcards, and encourage students to explain concepts back to me to ensure understanding. Outside of academics, I love music, singing, cooking, and spending time with my younger brother. Helping students has been incredibly fulfilling for me, and I am dedicated to continuing this work with enthusiasm and care.

I received a Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology Major (B.S.) and History Minor from Emory University.Throughout my undergraduate years, I worked as a Biology teaching assistant at Emory (leading review sessions in the advanced and introductory courses). Today, I mainly tutor students in Biology-related courses, including Human Physiology and Neuroscience. As a medical student at New York Medical College, I hope to offer students interested in a career in medicine additional breadth and specialized mentoring. Moreover, I also enjoy writing and would be more than happy to assist with college essays, especially scientific writing. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering as an EMT at a local ambulance corps, reading, and cooking.
I grew up in Decatur, Georgia attending some of the best Atlanta public schools. After graduating from the University of Georgia's business school, I worked in benefits consulting for the first three years after college. Through a volunteer organization called Junior Achievement, I had the opportunity to teach personal finance classes in Atlanta public high schools, and in the classroom I found my true calling. While I enjoyed my experience in Corporate America, my passion is teaching mathematics and economics to our youth and helping them find their own paths and passions. I will graduate this May with my Master of Arts in Teaching degree. In my free time, you can find me cooking, running, traveling, and reading.
I recently graduated from Emory University, and I am going to medical school at Columbia University in the fall. I worked as a TA and tutor in college for biology and music courses, and I also have experience preparing students for standardized tests. My approach to tutoring is not to simply teach the material, but also to give my students the tools and strategies they need to teach themselves. Since everyone learns differently, I adjust my teaching style to match how each of my students learn, and I enjoy the challenge of coming up with new ways to explain concepts and problems.
I'm a 25 year old recent J.D. graduate of Georgia State College of Law. I attended Emory University for my undergraduate studies where I was awarded a double major in Political Science and History. Currently I am interning with CAIR as I prepare for the February Georgia Bar Exam.I love teaching and being involved with students. My lessons are highly energized and interactive for my students to retain as much as possible in a fun, relaxed environment. I focus on identifying each student's own particular style of learning and adjust my sessions with them accordingly, so that they get the most out of each lesson.Everyone learns differently and I'm a strong advocate in building off each person's strengths and minimizing any potential weaknesses.I have served as a high school coach for essay writing and debate. I've also had lots of experience with Elementary school kids from my time spent as a tutor as a parts of Emory Reads. I spent two years tutoring at various after school programs in the Atlanta Public Schools System. In high school I took Algebra 1 +2, AP Calculus AB and Statistics and earned a score of 700+ on the SAT Math section. I also took AP US History, AP Government, AP Psych, AP American Literature, AP European History, AP Economics and AP Art History in High School. I scored 700+ on my SAT Writing and Reading sections.I was also Social Studies student of the year my Junior year of High School.I was an English minor at Emory University as well.I am mobile and get anywhere around the metro Atlanta area and my schedule is very flexible so I can set up lessons at whatever time works best.
I am a graduate of Emory University, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then received a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University where I focused on Biotechnology. I am currently pursuing my M.D. in Boston, MA. During my time in graduate school, I tutored middle school and high school students in science and math. I love tutoring science, especially health sciences as I am in school to become a physician. I also enjoy teaching math and I find it to be one of the most rewarding subjects to watch a student grow to understand. Throughout my academic career, I have taken the SAT, GRE, and MCAT so I am especially passionate about test preparation.
Passionate about education, I've taught test prep, middle and high school, subject tutoring such as algebra, geometry and writing, ESL, and music theory and performance. I also have experience as a camp counselor, coach for soccer and basketball, and I have really enjoyed teaching game design courses for middle to high school age students. In my spare time, you'd find me playing music on guitar, piano or Ableton, writing children's books, or reading a book on world history.I am an English major from Emory University, which I attended on a merit-based scholarship. I have been tutoring SAT or ACT prep and other high school subjects for the past 15 years in Asheville, Atlanta, and Miami, and honed my techniques with several excellent organizations before joining Varsity Tutors for their Atlanta launch.I focus on simple strategies that can be applied universally to all sections of testing, while still trying to develop a specific approach for each student, because everyone learns a little differently.I enjoy tutoring SAT prep because I love seeing students make real progress, measurable in their scores, that will help them succeed in their educational and professional lives. Helping someone achieve their goals and dreams is a very rewarding feeling. What most makes me an effective teacher is the breadth of my knowledge and experience - math, literature, history, politics, music, art, journalism, and architecture have all been passions of mine. This variety of experience helps me relate to a wide range of students and teach many different subjects.
I want to live in a world filled with inspired self-starters and self-assured young people. As a young professional, helping others own their spark is what keeps mine twinkling. Whether its as modest as modifying a rowing machine with duct tape to be disability friendly, as brave as a teenagers first authentic statement in family therapy after months of nudging, as critical as ensuring there isnt a refugee without food or shelter, or as important as teaching a teenager how to read, I am energized through equipping and empowering others. Im an action-oriented extrovert who is equal parts goal and relationship-oriented and ready to be challenged and engaged.
I graduated from Emory University in May of 2016 with a BSc in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. I started tutoring peers my freshman year in General Biology, and gradually moved on to other subjects, such as Biochemistry and MCAT prep as I learned the topics myself. As someone who struggled to learn in elementary and middle school, I understand how frustrating a new concept can be, and do my best to develop individualized study plans for all my students. My goal is always to ensure that my students will eventually become academically independent with their subjects, to the point where I feel they could tutor someone else in that same content.I currently work as a Research Specialist at the Emory University school of Medicine in the physiology department. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, weight lifting, Uke, and hiking.
After a profound lesson about immunity in A.P. Biology, the study of life has been a major part of my own ever since. I received my bachelor's degree in biology from Emory University where I focused heavily on cellular behavior. In addition, I also received plentiful experiences performing research investigating our little armies of cells. Through the years, I found teaching opportunities to mentor peers in the biology coursework and introduce young students to cancer biology. While I am eager to tutor young minds through biology and biochemistry, I am capable to support students in Organic Chemistry as well. Outside of the classroom, I served as a mentor in the Matriculate Program, where I guided high school students through the college application process. From my experiences with my mentees, I believe strong support is essential to make complex topics understandable. Currently, I am exploring my interest in immunity once more as a post-bac research student at the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of the lab, I enjoy exploring the city, reading novels in other languages, and trying different cuisines.
Hi, fellow answer seekers! As an insatiable question asker myself, I cherish the opportunity to inspire and inform other curious individuals. My goal is to help students not only learn STEM content, but to truly understand it. While earning my BS in biochemistry from Georgia Tech and my PhD in pharmacology from Emory University, I developed a true passion for science education and communication. I will gladly accept any opportunity to help someone better understand the world around them by providing comprehensive and memorable STEM tutorship. Stay curious, friends!
I am currently a junior studying Neuroscience and Economics at Emory University. As a high school student once myself, I realize that having the right tutor can make a world of difference in learning and performance.I have personally benefited from having a tutor and would like to help and inspire other students to the best of my ability as well.In the past, I have tutored friends and families in my most familiar subject, SAT prep. In addition, the past semester I worked with Emory Reads, a program that sends university students to local elementary schools to tutor the children mostly in math and science subjects.Other than SAT prep, I am skilled in SAT subject tests such as Math 2 and Chinese with Listening as well as ACT, and biology. In my spare time I like to exercise, practice Taekwondo, and just catch up on my school work.I look forward to meeting and working with you.
I am a graduate of Emory University and Relay Graduate School of Education. During my time at Emory, I studied psychology and dance. I also taught numerous students within and outside of my coursework obligations across various disciplines, e.g. English/Shakespeare, dance, etc.. This unraveled a passion for teaching, which led me to pursue a masters in teaching at Relay Graduate School of Education with a particular focus on learning behaviorism (disabilities). For the last 4 years, I have had the honor to professionally teach PHENOMENAL students in Chicago, Illinois. Many of those students are those who happen to have a disability (or disabilities) and who have helped me to fall in love with teaching as a craft. I enjoy collaborating with students to conjure their full potential and to reconfigure how they go about learning. I humbly believe that learning can be both rigorous and fun. I strive to achieve the latter by curating personalized lesson plans as much as I can for students.I enjoy teaching English, Writing and Math for different reasons. I love to read and write, so the ability to share in that love with students is something I find to be extremely rewarding, especially when students are disinterested (and sometimes afraid) of them. As for math, it can be one of the most exciting languages to learn and to play with once the concepts "click". Overall, I really enjoy teaching and look forward to working with amazing new students!
I recently graduated with a Master of Art in teaching secondary science from Georgia State and will begin teaching full time this upcoming school year. While in school I completed a year-long, full-time clinical placement at a high school in metro Atlanta. This experience provided the opportunity to work with a variety of learners. I have a BS in Environmental Studies from Emory University and a minor in Global Health, Culture, and Society.I enjoy being active in my spare time including rowing, running, biking, and vinyasa yoga. I also spend my time volunteering with Lifeline Animal Project.
Hiya!I'm Sakib, a graduate student at Rice, studying computational & applied mathematics. I have been tutoring ever since high school in a variety of subjects. I have been a Teaching Assistant for Calculus I & II, and Organic Chemistry I & II. I have also taught SAT for Kaplan for years and privately taught SAT, SAT Math/Chemistry as well as AP subject exams.I love tutoring and being able to relay concepts to students. I enjoy enhancing their knowledge and giving them the skills needed to tackle upcoming tests and their courses.
As a student, I excel in both high school and college, getting As and A*s in all math and sciences courses. I am not merely a good test taker, but also a thinker on these matters. I have experiences in competitions in math and physics and won several awards. I have read books such as "A Brief History of Time" and other books outside the school curricula. I think that fundamental physics is especially interesting, because it is very pronounced in everyday setting. In order to learn what the frontier physics looks like, I joined a physics lab in my college to do research with a professor in January 2021, and continues uninterrupted to this day.As a tutor, I have previous experience in teaching mathematics to secondary school students, focusing on algebra and geometry. I used to teach on Chegg Tutors for college level physics and mathematics. Now, I am an active tutor in an education institute and teach high school students for standardized tests and high school math and physics curricula. I usually offer one-to-one tutoring in order to tailor the best experience for the student and will adjust the content and style of teaching based on student request. I understands where students typically struggle at very well, and so directly gets to their needs. Therefore, I have received many positive feedbacks from both Chegg and returning students when I taught secondary school math.
I graduated from The George Washington University in 2015 with a BA in International Affairs. After graduating college, I moved to the Mississippi Delta to teach with Teach for America. Teach for America (TFA) is an AmeriCorps program that recruits, trains, and places top college graduates in high needs schools throughout the country. During my time with TFA, I taught a variety of science courses in my placement high school, including state tested biology. I am a certified biology and social studies teacher for grades 7-12. My time teaching has been both rewarding and challenging. One of my focuses as a lead science teacher was to work with students on college readiness. From ACT prep to rigorous lab based science instruction, we saw students grow five points on the ACT and increased the pass rate on the state exam. As my time with Teach for America comes to an end, I am excited to continue my commitment to education with Varsity Tutors. Currently I am working on a Master’s in Public Health at Emory University.
Hi! My name is Philip and I live in Marietta. I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology from Emory University last year and am starting medical school at Wake Forest in a few months. I have a pretty strong background in Math and Sciences and teaching is one of my strongest passions besides medicine. Feel free to call/email me to ask any questions and I hope to meet you in person soon!
Hi there! Thank you for checking out my profile. My name is Tino. I enjoy helping students prepare in subjects related to mathematics, statistics, economics, econometrics, and the sciences. My students have ranged from ages 5 to 45 -- so practically everyone is welcome! I particularly enjoy teaching undergraduate level courses or test-prep (SAT Math, ACT Math). As for my qualifications, I have been tutoring ever since I was 14 years old and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Economics at the Toulouse School of Economics. I hold a Master's in Economics, Master's in Data Sciences and Business analytics, and my Bachelor's was in Business at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student has the potential to succeed when given encouragement, structure, and meaningful instruction. With sixteen years of experience teaching social studies, I have learned that education is most powerful when students see how it connects to their own lives. Social studies is not simply about memorizing dates, names, and events; it is about applying them to daily living to become a good citizen and lifelong learner.
Growing up, I was labeled by my family as "the future rich man." By narrowing my focus to myself, I was always able to achieve my goals more efficiently. This worked plenty for me, as I had just been accepted to the best high school in the state and had a high GPA. However, this turned out to be a less-than-stellar strategy when it came to fulfillment. Oftentimes, my obsessive focus on my work led to a social battery only matched by Wednesday Addams and an emptiness that I had struggled with for a long time. While achievements like Honor Roll were nice to have, they never brought any sense of purpose. However, in 11th grade, I got a life-changing opportunity: I would volunteer to help coach and take statistics for the local high school varsity girls' basketball team that my mom was coaching. Upon hearing about this opportunity, I was ecstatic since I could further fill my resume with an activity I had already enjoyed in previous years. My family had always been united by basketball: Whether it was my mom and family watching Lakers games or our traditional Thanksgiving three-on-three games, I had been studying the game for nearly my entire life. However, as time went on, volunteering became more than just an opportunity to engage with basketball. Once she began coaching, I often had the privilege of hearing her rant about the team. She would come home and immediately start pacing around the living room, trying her hardest to strategize while not losing her patience. However, these tangents also came with bits and pieces of their lives, worries, and future aspirations: many of them lived in low-income households, had issues with anxiety, and had dreams to be doctors or entrepreneurs. Every time I heard one of these stories, it not only made me feel a greater connection to them and their goals, but it made me think about what I should do to help them. Around December, I decided to set up some meetings for SAT/PSAT tutoring for the team, which would help both myselfwho needed to take it that yearand the team, who would be introduced to these topics for the first time. Throughout that meeting, the aroma of coffee and cinnamon rolls filled the local Panera, which would sometimes give us free coffee and bread. As we studied, a girl on the teamwho wanted to be an engineerasked for help on a problem with proportional triangles. I noticed the both confused and frustrated look on her faceEnglish was not her first language, so she was trying her hardest to take every word I said and translate it into her own language, while I drew diagrams of triangles on the page. This only made me more determined; I brought in every possible real-world example I had in my mind to help her understand. Finally, with a glow of satisfaction, she understood the problem and completed the next example with ease. However, this not only created a feeling of gratification for her, but also for myself, as this moment brought me fulfillment I had not felt before. Sitting in that Panera explaining Algebra 1 concepts, I realized exactly what I needed to fill the void. When I got home, I couldn't help but have a smile on my face, because I finally knew what I was doing wrong: the obsessive focus on my own achievements was withholding the sense of contentment that comes from helping others. I realized that the unfillable void could only be filled by helping others achieve instead of achieving more for myself. Whether it is tutoring while managing my school work or doing community service before performing for the school's concert band, I knew moving forward my life had to have a balance. Ultimately, being "the future rich man" will mean being truly fulfilled.
I've always loved helping people, even my friends when we were in the same classes. It brings me a lot of satisfaction when I help a student feel more confident in what they are learning. It is so rewarding when I am able to relieve the stigma of certain subjects, especially math, in order for a student to perform well. I hope my work with different students is able to promote the importance of education!
I received my Bachelor's degree from Emory University in 2014 as a Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology major on the pre-medical track. I also completed post-baccalaureate coursework in the upper-level sciences at American University during the past year. Although I was passionate about studying to be a doctor during my academic career, I recently decided that I instead want to pursue a law degree. As a tutor, I strive to be relatable and animated (funny, when possible) with my students, and I draw from my experience teaching an SAT prep course in order to be an engaging presenter of the material. I have a strong background in many academic subjects and my interests are numerous and varied, including neuroethics and neurolaw, pharmacology, and the Hindi language. I am also a visual artist and have displayed works at an art gallery in Pennsylvania, where I grew up.
I am a rising senior at Emory University studying Quantitative Neuroscience with a minor in Spanish. I have been a tutor for Spanish, math, and chemistry since high school, where I was a coteacher for AP Spanish Literature and Culture during my junior year. My favorite subjects to tutor are Spanish and calculus--I love to show the visual side of math and the reasoning behind concepts in Spanish, such as the subjunctive. Too often, I think math is taught as theoretical concepts when it is also quite visual, and I've seen graphing approaches be very helpful for my students. Similarly, Spanish is sometimes taught via memorization, but there are many ways to simplify Spanish by learning how to think about it differently. I'm passionate about teaching students effective ways to learn and even appreciate these difficult subjects.
I hold a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Florida State University and am currently a law student at Emory University. I have experience tutoring as well as editing essays for college admission, standardized tests, and scholarships. I look forward to leveraging this experience to help students achieve their full potential.Outside of tutoring, I love to travel. I have visited several countries in South America and studied abroad in the United Kingdom as part of the Fulbright Scotland Summer Institute.
Learning and helping others learn are two of my passions. Everyone's style is different and I enjoy working with individuals to customize a plan that will be the most beneficial and enjoyable for them. Learning should be fun! It develops your ability to critically think about the world around you, which is an invaluable skill that you will use not only in school but for the rest of your life.I specialize in the sciences and math, have graduate level expertise in biological sciences and classroom teaching experience.
I have experience been mentoring and coaching new nurses and student nurses. I am currently a graduate student working on my Masters in Nursing Education. My goal is to assist the new generation of nurses to be the very best they can be.
I am a teacher passionate about motivating students and investing them in their education to meet their goals and succeed. I have a Masters of Science in Teaching Childhood Education and Special Education, and a background in Political Science and History. I was a teacher for two years in the New York City Department of Education, and over those two years I helped my students attain an average reading growth of 1.5 years/year for each student, and an average math level proficiency growth of 1.3 years/year per student. I have experience teaching students with a wide array of learning needs, and have experience motivating students to enjoy learning and feel inspired to achieve their goals.I look forward to supporting student learning as a tutor with Varsity Tutors.
I am a student at Emory University, class of 2018, I double major in Biology BS and Environmental Science BS. I am bilingual speaking both English and Chinese (Mandarin). Currently working my way through college and applying for graduate school to become a Environmental Biologist in hope to find solutions for many environment issues that our society face today. Current student at Emory University. I have over 3 years of experience in teaching and tutoring students, having taught math from elementary school level through AP Calculus BC. I have also taken Multivariable Calculus at Columbia University and Linear Algebra.
Hi, I'm Alex. I'm currently a pre-medical student with a Bachelor's in Neuroscience from Emory University and a Master's in Biology from Mississippi College. I've been studying the natural sciences for the better part of my academic career. I consider myself an interactive learner and a passionate teacher. I know how hard things like biology, chemistry, physics and math can be but once I realized how to break them down piece by piece I saw that there was no concept that I couldn't conquer. I finally saw the big picture of things. Let me show you!
I have been tutoring in mathematics since my early years in high school. I first found my love of mathematics in Mr. Vreisman's classroom. He was my Algebra 1 teacher and encouraged me to continue to pursue the subject. His motto was, "Math is only as hard as you make it seem." He believed that most people had trouble in this subject because of the daunting stereotypes surrounding the difficulty of math. He proved us all wrong in that class. Ever since then, I adapted several different techniques and ways of teaching to encourage students to understand this thought process. My goal is help all of my clients understand that math is not hard, but getting out of the mentality that math is hard is where the difficulty lies.
I have four years of one on one and group tutoring experience in a majority of Math based subjects. I have worked with high school and college level students in Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and Statistics. I like to use a three part tutoring method that 1) determines what the student does not understand, 2) walks step by step through example problems and 3) requires the student to show me that a problem can be completed independently.
I am a senior at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, working towards my bachelor's in chemistry. I was a K-12 afterschool tutor throughout high school and have assisted students on everything from elementary reading to high school chemistry and SATs. In college, I also spent time at a girl's home providing homework help and was an on-campus Latin tutor.Having had wonderful teachers in the past, I see tutoring as a way to pay forward the love for learning they gave me. I also enjoy the challenge of communicating concepts in an audience-specific manner, and from having created many study guides as a student am interested in how the organization of knowledge can facilitate learning. My favorite subjects to teach are currently high school math, but I love chemistry and biology as well. In my spare time, I enjoy folding origami, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing video games.
I graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor's degree in English and Creative Writing. While pursuing my graduate degree in English Education at Manhattanville College, I have been fortunate enough to spend a significant amount of time in various classrooms. I have led classes in substitute and student teacher capacities and have observed several experienced teachers as well. My undergraduate education has provided me with a lot of English-specific knowledge while also enabling me to work in other content areas including math and test prep. In my spare time I can usually be found rooting on the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks, organizing a pickup game, or heading to the movies.

I am currently working as a medical scribe at a family practice and aspire to become a doctor. In my experience, it can be a fun finding new ways to approach difficult concepts! In my free time, I enjoy dancing, practicing yoga, volunteering and reading!
My passion is education. I have taught in three countries in three languages to a wide range of students at universities, non-profits and private companies. I have a knack for making the difficult seem easy and interesting. My aim is to ensure that each student leaves our sessions feeling confident enough that they know they can easily tackle the next level in their school curriculum without feeling overwhelmed. Our sessions are light and jovial in tone, yet focused and deliberate in approach. I hold a B.A. in Economics from Emory University and a Masters degree and PhD coursework in Art History. When I am not working, I love to explore New York City and discover new things about it. Writing excites me, and I am working on a book about my experiences overseas. I am also very athletic. I am a recent graduate of Emory University, where I received my BA in Psychology and Linguistics, while also majoring in Chinese. I am currently working towards my MA in Applied Linguistics at Georgia State University. I primarily tutor reading comprehension and writing because I have a passion for both of these skills. My goal is to have every student love writing and reading as much as I do. I have experience with working with students all over the world, from China to Saudi Arabia to the United States. My approach to tutoring is to make it as personalized as possible and have me and the student work collaboratively to get to the answer, instead of the student being told the answer and be expected to understand it.Overall, I hope to spread my passion for education and learning to more students. I look forward to helping you!
